Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro Review: 14-Day Battery and Indestructible Build

Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro Review

It has been a long time since a smartwatch genuinely thrilled me. I have been using the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro for quite a while now, and I can say without hesitation: this is a home run. It is lightweight, undeniably elegant, incredibly durable, and possesses a battery life that I previously thought was impossible for a device of this caliber. In a world where most premium smartwatches demand a charger every 24 to 48 hours, the GT 6 Pro sails past the two-week mark with ease, even with every sensor and health-tracking feature firing on all cylinders.

Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro: Design and Durability

Huawei has always been renowned for its build quality, but the GT 6 Pro elevates that reputation to a new tier. The chassis is crafted from aerospace-grade TC4 titanium, the back is ceramic, and the display is shielded by sapphire glass. This combination doesn’t just look luxurious; it is practically indestructible.

I didn’t just wear this to the office. I put it through a proper field test during the olive harvest. The watch spent days rubbing against rough branches, grinding against stones, and getting covered in dirt. The result? Not a single scratch. I also took it into the ocean, diving down several meters. Thanks to its IP69 and 5ATM ratings, along with its certification for diving up to 40 meters, it survived the saltwater environment as if nothing had happened. It is, simply put, a tank dressed in a tuxedo.

The Display: A Visual Feast

The visual experience is anchored by a 1.47-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a 60 Hz refresh rate. However, the headline spec here is the brightness: a staggering 3,000 nits. Whether I was under the midday sun or deep underwater, legibility was never an issue. The Always-On Display is smart enough to dim appropriately to save power without making the watch face unreadable. With its slim bezels, the screen feels expansive and looks significantly more expensive than the watch’s €380 price tag suggests.

Comfort and Engineering

The test unit I received came with a titanium strap that perfectly complements the premium aesthetic. What impressed me most was the engineering behind the adjustment mechanism. Every single link features a quick-release latch, allowing me to resize the bracelet perfectly to my wrist without needing a jeweler’s screwdriver or any tools at all. The box even includes extra links for larger wrists. It is this attention to detail that shows how seriously Huawei takes the “Pro” moniker. Despite the metal construction, the watch weighs in at 54.7g (without the strap), feeling substantial yet comfortable.

Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro: Software and User Experience

Running on HarmonyOS 6.0, the interface is buttery smooth and intuitive. Navigation is handled via the responsive touchscreen and two physical buttons: a rotating crown on top and a programmable button below.

The customization options are vast, with over 100,000 watch faces available. I found it easy to organize widgets to see my heart rate, weather, steps, and battery life at a glance. However, I have to note a minor grievance: I dislike that Huawei locks many of the better watch faces behind a VIP subscription. On a premium device, more of these should be free, though there are still plenty of solid free options if you dig around.

The inclusion of a microphone and speaker means I could take calls directly from my wrist, provided my phone was nearby. The audio quality is surprisingly clear, even on busy streets.

Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro: Health Tracking

The GT 6 Pro debuts Huawei’s new TruSense sensor system, and the accuracy is top-tier. I compared the heart rate data against a dedicated medical sensor, and the deviation was negligible.

The watch offers a comprehensive suite of health metrics:

  • Real-time Heart Rate and SpO₂

  • Skin temperature and Stress monitoring

  • Single-lead ECG with AFib detection (which is fast and easy to export)

  • Arterial Stiffness detection

  • Sleep tracking (including sleep apnea detection)

The sleep tracking, in particular, is shockingly precise, accurately logging even brief awakenings during the night. The data presentation in the Huawei Health app is detailed yet digestible.

Fitness and Navigation

While it boasts over 150 sports modes, the features for serious athletes stood out to me. Cyclists get a virtual power meter that estimates pedal power without external sensors—a unique, albeit niche, feature.

For runners and hikers, the dual-band GPS (L1+L5) is excellent. It locks onto satellites faster than previous generations and maintains a strong signal even in urban canyons or underpasses. The offline Petal Maps integration is a lifesaver for outdoor adventures; downloading a region map to the watch meant I could navigate deep in nature without draining my phone battery.

Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro: Battery Life

This is where the GT 6 Pro leaves the competition in the dust. Inside is a massive 867 mAh battery utilizing new high-silicon stacked technology.

In real-world usage, I consistently got 14 days of battery life without sparing any features—continuous heart rate, sleep tracking, and notifications were all on. If you disable the Always-On Display and some background monitoring, you could easily stretch this to 21 days.

When you do finally need to charge, the included wireless charger is faster than before, taking about 90 minutes for a full top-up. It also supports standard Qi wireless charging, meaning I could charge it on my phone’s reverse wireless charging pad in a pinch.

The Drawbacks

No device is perfect. The lack of LTE connectivity (eSIM) is a miss for a “Pro” device in 2025, meaning you can’t leave your phone behind entirely if you want to stay connected. Furthermore, NFC payments do not work in Europe, which is a significant inconvenience for those of us who like to pay with our wrists. Lastly, the proprietary strap connection means you cannot use standard 22mm bands, limiting you to Huawei’s ecosystem.

Verdict

The Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro does exactly what a smartwatch should do, and it does it better than almost anyone else. It offers a stunning display, medical-grade sensor precision, a bomb-proof titanium build, and battery life that fundamentally changes how you use the device.

While the lack of LTE and contactless payments are valid criticisms, the sheer reliability and performance in every other category make them easy to forgive. It is no surprise that the GT line is a best-seller. After weeks of abuse in the sea, the soil, and on the bike, my conclusion is simple: this watch can survive anything you throw at it.
