Google is making Pinterest-Like Feature for Its Mobile App
|According to information from Android Authority, Google is developing a new feature within its mobile app that resembles Pinterest — the popular platform for visual discovery and idea organization. Although this functionality wasn’t officially announced during the Google I/O conference, a recent APK teardown of the Google app has revealed the first traces of the upcoming feature.
At the heart of this feature is a new “Images” tab, which will be integrated directly into the Google app. Much like Pinterest, users will be shown visual content that updates daily, tailored to their personal interests.
Upon launching the tab for the first time, users will be prompted to select at least three areas of interest — such as Fashion, Food & Drink, or Interior Design. Based on these selections, Google will curate a personalized image feed using public search results.
Users will be able to long-press on any image to share it, save it to their own collection, search it with Google Lens, or hide it from their feed if they find it irrelevant.
The feature is designed to allow users to create a digital inspiration board, similar to what Pinterest has been offering for years.
It’s worth noting that the feature is still in the early stages of development. During testing, users reported that the content displayed is currently random rather than topic-specific. However, Google is expected to address these initial issues before the feature becomes publicly available.
