HMD 106 Pure Leaks: Unannounced $10 Feature Phone Appears Online

HMD appears to have quietly released its latest entry-level feature phone, the HMD 106 Pure. Without an official announcement or a listing on the manufacturer’s website, the ultra-affordable handset has surfaced on a Pakistani e-commerce platform carrying a price tag of roughly $10 (PKR 3,250).

Designed as a bare-bones communication device, the HMD 106 Pure features a compact 1.8-inch QQVGA display with a 120 by 160-pixel resolution. The handset is powered by the Unisoc 6531E chipset—the same processor utilized in the HMD 102—and runs on the S30+ operating system, a standard software platform for HMD’s classic keypad phones.

While the device includes a rear camera, its ultra-low 320 by 240 resolution restricts it to the most rudimentary of snapshots. Power is supplied by a removable 1,000mAh battery, which has been notably modernized with a USB-C charging port. The phone also retains legacy hardware features that remain highly valued in the budget feature phone segment, including a 3.5mm headphone jack, built-in FM radio support, and a microSD card slot capable of handling up to 32GB of expandable storage.

Connectivity is strictly limited to standard GSM (2G) networks. This lack of 3G, 4G, or 5G support renders the device unusable in regions where 2G infrastructure has already been decommissioned, underscoring its strategic deployment in emerging markets like Pakistan where legacy networks remain fully operational.

Visually echoing the design language of the earlier HMD 101, the retailer lists the HMD 106 Pure in Dark Gray and Teal Green, though product images indicate a blue colorway also exists. This quiet retail debut aligns with HMD’s ongoing strategy of producing accessible, reliable feature phones, building upon its 2024 releases of the HMD 105 and 110 models.
