New entry-level Kindle leaks with redesigned screen and power button

Amazon may be preparing a new version of its entry-level Kindle. Leaked marketing images show an e-reader that resembles the 2024 model but has flatter edges, rounded display corners and a power button on its right side.

The images, shared by leaker Roland Quandt, show the device in several pastel colors. The Kindle name appears below the screen and on the back, but Amazon’s smile logo is absent from the images.

The power button is another visible change. Rather than sitting on the bottom edge, as it does on the current entry-level Kindle, it appears near the top of the new device’s right-hand side.

The leaked images seem to show two slightly different designs. In some, the screen appears nearly flush with the front of the reader and has a more pronounced border. In others, it looks more recessed. The sample text also differs in size and spacing.

Those differences do not confirm that Amazon intends to release two models. The images could depict separate variants, but they could also show preliminary designs or marketing materials that will change before launch.

Images of new cases for a Kids version have also surfaced. For now, Amazon has not announced the e-reader, and its specifications, price and release date remain unknown.
