What to Expect from the Upcoming HMD Aura 2 Pro Smartphone

Following the rollout of the original Aura in 2024 and its direct successor, the Aura 2, in 2025, HMD is reportedly preparing to introduce a “Pro” variant to its budget-friendly lineup. According to a credible industry insider, detailed specifications and renders for the upcoming HMD Aura 2 Pro have recently surfaced—though the hardware sheet leaves open questions regarding what exactly justifies its “Pro” designation.

The forthcoming smartphone will reportedly center around a 6.75-inch LCD panel featuring a fluid 90Hz refresh rate. For photography, the rear camera array is headlined by a 50-megapixel primary sensor. This main lens is accompanied by two largely decorative auxiliary sensors: a 2-megapixel shooter and a highly unusual 0.08-megapixel lens. A modest 5-megapixel front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.

Under the hood, the Aura 2 Pro is expected to draw power from the MediaTek Helio G81 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM. Consumers will reportedly have the option of either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, which remains expandable via a memory card slot. Emphasizing its position as an entry-level device, the smartphone is slated to ship running Android 15 Go Edition.

Powering the device is a standard 5,000 mAh battery, though users will have to settle for relatively slow 10W wired charging speeds. Rounding out the spec sheet, the Aura 2 Pro includes an IP52 rating for basic dust and rain resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric security, and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

The device will reportedly be offered in two colorways: Meteor Black and Icy Blue. However, given the distinctly budget-tier hardware, it remains to be seen how HMD plans to market the device to live up to its premium-sounding name.
