Vivo X500 Pro and Pro Max Launched: 200MP Telephoto and Dimensity 9600 Pro

Vivo has officially unveiled the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, transitioning weeks of supply chain leaks into a concrete hardware lineup. Debuting in China, the new flagship smartphones introduce a wave of industry-first hardware, including MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, support for LPDDR6 memory, and an unprecedented 8,000mAh battery in the top-tier Max model.

Under the hood, both devices are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, a custom-tuned silicon platform built in close collaboration with Vivo. The chipset packs over 33 billion transistors and utilizes a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU architecture. This marks the mobile industry’s first platform to support next-generation LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage. MediaTek reports a 17% increase in single-core performance and a 61% reduction in peak multi-core power consumption compared to its predecessor. The onboard NPU 1090 also enables on-device processing for mixture-of-experts AI models with up to 30 billion parameters, driving features like one-click highlight editing.

The Vivo X500 Pro Max

The flagship X500 Pro Max centers around a 6.85-inch BOE Q11 2K Zeiss Master Color Screen, which utilizes a custom auto-brightness algorithm to maintain color consistency across shifting lighting environments.

The primary differentiator for the Max model is its telephoto capability. It houses a 200MP Zeiss APO super telephoto camera, utilizing a massive 1/1.4-inch BluePrint x Samsung HP0 sensor with hardware-level 4x lossless zoom. To keep moving subjects sharp at extreme ranges, Vivo integrated an optical telephoto tracking system, a high-refresh-rate tracking engine, and its proprietary NICE algorithm. The device is powered by an enormous 8,000mAh battery while retaining 90W wired and 40W wireless fast charging.

The Vivo X500 Pro

The more compact X500 Pro features a 6.36-inch 144Hz adaptive LTPO 8T display. Like the Max, it utilizes BOE’s Q11 luminescent material and offers Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a hardware-level 1-nit minimum brightness for extreme low-light viewing.

Both the Pro and Pro Max share the same primary camera system: a 50MP shooter utilizing the new BlueTouch 900 sensor. Vivo claims this is the first mobile sensor to achieve a 17EV dynamic range, allowing the camera to seamlessly balance heavily backlit portraits and high-contrast sunset scenes. The standard Pro replaces the 200MP zoom lens with an 85mm “golden focal length” telephoto utilizing a 64MP Sony LYTIA 610 sensor. It draws power from a smaller, yet still substantial, 6,510mAh battery.

Both smartphones support a Zeiss G2 Ultra teleconverter accessory, which extends the focal length to an equivalent of 400mm.

Pricing and Availability

Pre-orders are currently live in China. The X500 Pro Max will hit retail shelves on September 24, followed by the X500 Pro on September 29. Vivo has not yet detailed a global release timeline or international pricing.

• Vivo X500 Pro: Starts at 6,499 yuan (12GB/256GB) and scales up to 8,499 yuan (12GB/1TB).

• Vivo X500 Pro Max: Starts at 6,999 yuan (12GB/256GB). A specialized “Creator’s Package” featuring 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and satellite communication capabilities will retail for 12,999 yuan.
