Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S27 series is not slated for release until early 2027, but international regulatory agencies are already laying bare the company’s hardware strategy. Fresh filings from China’s 3C certification body have unveiled crucial battery and charging specifications for the lineup’s top-tier devices: the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
According to the 3C database, two upcoming Samsung devices—identified by model numbers SM-S957 (Galaxy S27 Pro) and SM-S958 (Galaxy S27 Ultra)—will feature 60W wired fast charging (20V/3A). While the 60W charging speed was largely expected to carry over for the Ultra model from previous generations, its inclusion in the newly designated Pro variant marks a significant upgrade for buyers seeking premium power without springing for the absolute top-tier device.
Galaxy S27 Ultra: The Widening Hardware Gap
This latest revelation sharply contrasts with earlier 3C listings for the lower-end models in the series. Previous regulatory filings confirmed that the base Galaxy S27 will remain locked to a dated 25W charging speed, while the S27 Plus will max out at 45W. The stark difference in wattage highlights a growing disparity within the lineup, heavily favoring the Pro and Ultra models while leaving the base flagship lagging behind modern charging standards.
Breaking the 5,000mAh Ceiling
Beyond charging speeds, the regulatory filings also shed light on substantial battery capacity upgrades. Tech publication SammyGuru recently identified two battery modules in the 3C database corresponding to the Pro and Ultra models:

The capacity boost represents a major milestone for the Ultra series. Samsung has rigidly adhered to a 5,000mAh battery ceiling for its top flagship since the Galaxy S21 Ultra debuted in 2021. This jump to 5,700mAh promises a substantial leap in daily endurance and screen-on time.
Based on the current trajectory of leaks, the Pro and Ultra variants are poised to deliver the most substantial innovations in the Galaxy S27 family. Conversely, the glaring lack of charging or battery upgrades for the standard Galaxy S27 paints the picture of a highly iterative and uninspired base model.
