Poco X8 Launched in India: The Ultimate Battery and Durability Phone

Following the successful debut of the Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max earlier this year, the brand is broadening its mid-range portfolio in India with the launch of the standard Poco X8. Unveiled alongside the battery-centric Poco X8 Power, the new vanilla X8 aims to strike a compelling balance between premium display technology, extreme durability, and exceptional battery life.
Built for the Elements
What immediately sets the Poco X8 apart in the crowded mid-range segment is its uncompromising approach to durability. The device is shielded by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and boasts an exhaustive list of ingress protection ratings—IP66, IP68, IP69, and even the industrial-grade IP69K—making it virtually impervious to dust, high-pressure water jets, and submersion.
On the front, the smartphone features a massive 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display. Geared for multimedia and gaming, the panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. It also reaches a blinding peak brightness of 3,500 nits. Notably, Poco has integrated “Wet Touch 2.0” technology and a 3,200Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate, ensuring the screen remains highly responsive even in the rain.
Power and Performance
Under the hood, the Poco X8 is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, clocking in at a peak of 2.4GHz. This is paired with an Adreno GPU to handle everyday multitasking and mobile gaming.
The phone’s true heavyweight feature, however, is its colossal 9,000mAh battery. Designed to push well past the standard two-day mark, the cell supports 67W wired fast charging. It also doubles as a formidable power bank, offering 22.5W wired reverse charging to top up your accessories or other devices on the go.
Cameras and Software
For photography, the X8 utilizes a streamlined dual-camera array on the rear. A 50-megapixel primary sensor equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) handles the heavy lifting, supported by a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait shots. A 16-megapixel front-facing shooter manages selfies and video conferencing.
On the software front, the device ships with HyperOS 3, based on the latest Android 16. In a major win for longevity, Poco is promising four major Android OS upgrades and a generous six years of security patches.
