Poco F9 Ultra Battery Leak Reveals Major Difference From Redmi K100 Pro Max

Poco F9

Poco’s next flagship smartphone range appears to be moving closer to launch, with the Poco F9 Ultra and Poco F9 Pro recently appearing in certification databases in Singapore and Indonesia. The listings suggest that both models could reach international markets within the next few months.

The devices are widely expected to be reworked versions of the Redmi K100 Pro Max and Redmi K100 Pro, which have already launched in China. However, new information indicates that Poco may make one significant change for its global versions: battery capacity.

Smaller batteries, unchanged 100W charging

According to details reportedly discovered in HyperOS code by tipster Kacper Skrzypek, the Poco F9 Ultra could feature an 8,050mAh battery. The Poco F9 Pro, meanwhile, is said to include a 6,330mAh cell.

Those capacities would be notably lower than the batteries used in the corresponding Redmi models. The Redmi K100 Pro Max is equipped with a 9,070mAh battery, while the Redmi K100 Pro has an 8,580mAh unit.

Model Reported battery capacity Charging
Poco F9 Ultra 8,050mAh 100W wired charging
Poco F9 Pro 6,330mAh 100W wired charging
Redmi K100 Pro Max 9,070mAh 100W wired charging
Redmi K100 Pro 8,580mAh 100W wired charging

Despite the apparent capacity reduction, charging speeds are not expected to change. Both Poco models are said to retain 100W wired charging support, matching their Redmi counterparts.

The reason behind the lower battery figures remains unclear. Poco may be adapting the phones for different regional requirements, internal component layouts, battery certification rules or product positioning. Whatever the explanation, the difference is substantial enough to affect the appeal of the global models, especially for buyers expecting the same endurance promised by their Chinese Redmi equivalents.

Flagship screens and Snapdragon hardware expected

Beyond the battery changes, the Poco F9 Ultra and F9 Pro are expected to closely follow the hardware specifications of the Redmi K100 series.

The Poco F9 Ultra could feature a larger 6.9-inch AMOLED display, while the Poco F9 Pro may use a more compact 6.59-inch panel. Both screens are expected to offer 1.5K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate, placing smooth scrolling and gaming at the centre of the series’ appeal.

Both phones may also be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chipset. The devices could offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and as much as 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, putting them firmly in flagship territory.

200MP camera and periscope zoom

The two models are also expected to share a 32MP front-facing camera and a 200MP Samsung HP5 main rear camera.

The larger Poco F9 Ultra may receive the more advanced camera system, with a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom.

The Poco F9 Pro could take a more modest approach. Its reported rear camera setup includes an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom.

Global models may not be direct Redmi clones

The Poco F9 Ultra and F9 Pro still appear set to share much of their core hardware with the Redmi K100 Pro Max and K100 Pro. Yet the reported battery changes show that Poco’s models may not be simple name swaps for global markets.

For buyers, the main question will be whether the smaller batteries result in a meaningful reduction in real-world endurance. An 8,050mAh battery would remain exceptionally large for a flagship phone, but the alleged 6,330mAh capacity of the Poco F9 Pro represents a far more noticeable step down from the Redmi K100 Pro.

Poco has not confirmed the F9 series, its specifications or its release schedule. Until an official announcement arrives, the reported battery capacities and the rest of the expected hardware should be treated as unconfirmed.
