Galaxy S27 Ultra Rumors Hint at Major Performance Leap With Next-Gen RAM

Galaxy S27 Ultra

Samsung’s next Ultra flagship may be shaping up as one of the first smartphones to embrace a new memory standard, potentially giving the Galaxy S27 Ultra a meaningful hardware advantage over many of its future rivals.

According to recent leaks, the device is expected to arrive with LPDDR6 RAM, likely paired with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. If that combination proves accurate, the Galaxy S27 Ultra would stand among the earliest Android flagships to move beyond LPDDR5X, which still powers the vast majority of premium smartphones today.

The upgrade could matter more than it first appears. On paper, LPDDR6 promises higher bandwidth and improved power efficiency, thanks to changes in memory architecture and channel design. In practical terms, that could translate into faster app launches, smoother multitasking, and stronger performance in demanding scenarios such as mobile gaming, AI-assisted features, and intensive background processing.

The processor itself is also expected to be a major part of the story. Leaks suggest Qualcomm is preparing two versions of its next flagship chip — a standard edition and a more powerful Pro model. The higher-end variant is said to feature a more capable Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB of GMEM, while the standard version could use an Adreno 845 with 12MB GMEM. Both are rumored to rely on a 2+3+3 CPU layout and may be manufactured on TSMC’s 2nm process, a move that would likely improve efficiency as well as raw performance.

Samsung, meanwhile, is continuing development of its own next-generation Exynos platforms, including the Exynos 2700 and Exynos 2800. Even so, current reports suggest the Galaxy S27 Ultra is still more likely to rely on Qualcomm silicon, at least across most global markets.

As always, next-generation hardware rarely comes without a price. New memory standards and more advanced chipsets typically raise production costs, and with DRAM and storage pricing already under pressure, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could easily end up launching at a higher price point than its predecessor.

It is still far too early to treat any of this as final. But if the current leaks hold up, Samsung’s next Ultra model may not just be another annual refresh — it could become one of the first Android phones to push next-generation memory and silicon at the same time.
