vivo V70 Launched: A Refined Mid-Ranger with a Flat OLED, Ultrasonic Fingerprint, and Extreme Durability

vivo has officially pulled the wraps off the V70, delivering a calculated update to its popular mid-range series. Rather than reinventing the wheel, the manufacturer has focused on refining the user experience—trading the curved screen of its predecessor for a practical flat panel, upgrading the build materials, and promising flagship-level software longevity.
While the new device inherits the processor and massive battery capacity from the V60, the V70 introduces a host of meaningful quality-of-life improvements that make it a compelling package.
vivo V70: A Flat Display and Faster Biometrics
One of the most noticeable design shifts is the move away from curved edges. The vivo V70 now sports a flat 6.59-inch OLED display, a slight reduction from the V60’s 6.77-inch panel. This size reduction translates to a more ergonomic, narrower footprint (74.3mm wide) that is easier to handle.
The display itself is brighter, boasting a global peak brightness of 1,800 nits and a localized peak of 5,000 nits, ensuring excellent outdoor visibility. Tucked beneath this 10-bit, 120Hz panel is a major hardware upgrade: an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. This replaces the older optical technology, offering significantly faster, more reliable, and highly secure biometric authentication.
Built to Survive
Despite shaving down its dimensions to a slim 7.4mm profile and a weight of just 187g (on the Authentic Black model), the V70 does not compromise on ruggedness. vivo has discarded the plastic chassis of the previous generation in favor of a durable, multi-polished 6-series aluminum alloy frame.
The phone is built to withstand the elements, carrying both IP68 and IP69 ratings for comprehensive dust, water, and high-pressure water jet resistance. Furthermore, it has survived rigorous 1.8-meter drop tests, aided by Schott Xensation Core glass protecting the screen.
vivo V70: Extreme Battery Endurance and Upgraded Optics
vivo’s impressive semi-solid battery technology makes a return. The 6,500mAh cell provides phenomenal endurance, capable of delivering 11 hours of intensive gaming or 5 hours of 4K 60fps video recording. The battery is explicitly engineered to survive extreme environments: vivo claims it can run navigation apps for 10 hours in scorching 40°C (104°F) desert heat, or for 8 hours in freezing -20°C (-4°F) Arctic conditions. When it does run low, the phone supports rapid 90W FlashCharge technology.

For photography enthusiasts, the V70 upgrades its primary shooter to a 50MP Sony LYT 700V sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). It is paired with a high-resolution 50MP telephoto lens and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The system now supports 4K video recording at a smoother 60fps. Leveraging ZEISS-style bokeh modes, the camera app offers five distinct portrait focal lengths ranging from 23mm for environmental shots to 100mm for tight close-ups.
Familiar Power, Extended Lifespan
Internally, the V70 is powered by the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset found in the V60, offering a familiar but reliable performance baseline.
However, the real software story is longevity. Launching with Android 16 and OriginOS 6 out of the box, vivo has committed to providing a remarkable 6 years of OS upgrades and security patches, a significant step up from the V60’s four years of OS support.
