Honor GT 2 Series Leak: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Massive 9,000mAh Battery Tipped

Honor is gearing up for a significant end-of-year offensive in its home market of China, with multiple smartphone lines set to debut. While the brand is already scheduling the Honor Power 2, featuring a staggering 10,000mAh battery for Q1 2026, its immediate focus is on the remainder of this year. The Honor 500 series and the high-performance Honor GT 2 lineup are expected to be unveiled before the end of December.
Today, a fresh and detailed leak from the prominent tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has pulled back the curtain on the specs of the anticipated Honor GT 2 series.
Clarifying the Chipset Confusion
According to the new report from DCS, Honor is differentiating its two GT models significantly. The standard Honor GT 2 will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the premium GT 2 Pro will feature the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
This information serves as a crucial correction, as DCS has now debunked previous industry claims that the GT 2 series would utilize the upcoming standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC.
A Flagship Display for Gaming
Regarding the display, recent leaks from fellow tipster Smart Pikachu revealed that both the GT 2 and GT 2 Pro will sport an identical 6.83-inch flat OLED panel. This screen is tipped to boast a sharp 1.5K resolution and an ultra-fast 165Hz refresh rate, putting it in direct competition with gaming-centric devices like the recently unveiled OnePlus Ace 6.
Massive Battery and Premium Build
DCS’s latest leak outlines a robust set of premium features for the GT 2 series. Both models are said to feature:
- A 50-megapixel primary camera with a large sensor.
- An advanced ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor.
- A premium metal middle frame.
- A “fully water-resistant body,” which strongly suggests a high-level IP68 or even IP69 rating.
The most notable specification, however, may be the battery. In the comments section of his Weibo post, the tipster mentioned an upcoming Honor phone will house a colossal 9,000mAh battery. While it is not explicitly clear if this refers to the standard or Pro model, other related leaks suggest the standard GT 2 may be the device to pack this 9,000mAh battery (with an 8,800mAh rated value). Both phones are also expected to support 100W fast charging.
On the software front, the GT 2 duo is expected to run MagicOS 10, based on the latest Android 16.
Launch Timeline
As mentioned, Honor is planning a rapid-fire launch schedule. The Honor 500 series is expected to go official in China in November. This will be followed by the Honor GT 2 series, which is tentatively scheduled to debut in December in China.
At this time, there is no information on whether Honor plans a global release for these high-performance devices.
