First look at Samsung’s tri-fold: G-shaped dual-fold design, tablet layout, and camera island

Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold is closer than ever. After years of patents, prototypes, and wishful renders, Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold appears to be more than a myth. Tipster Ice Universe has shared what they claim is the company’s first dual-folding phone, with an official reveal expected in the coming days.
The leaked shots depict a continuous display that folds twice. Fully opened, it reads like a compact tablet; folded, it retains Samsung’s centered punch-hole selfie camera. Bezels look noticeable, and the hinge geometry lines up with Samsung’s Flex G concept hardware and previously seen animations.
The device is rumored to launch as the Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold. On the rear, expect three distinct panels: the left-most section reportedly houses a triple-camera setup on a raised island similar to current Z Fold models, while the middle panel likely carries the cover screen and its own front-facing camera.
Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which mixes inward and outward folds in an S-shaped layout, Samsung’s design reportedly uses two inward folds—a G-shaped structure. That approach should better protect the flexible inner display when closed while keeping the outer cover display accessible. Earlier chatter even floated “Galaxy G Fold” as a potential name.
Don’t get too comfy, U.S. buyers: the tri-fold may launch only in select Asian markets—reportedly South Korea, China, Singapore, and Taiwan—with no U.S. release on the cards at launch.
If accurate, this is Samsung’s clearest step beyond the single-hinge playbook: a dual-fold, tablet-class screen in your pocket. Now all eyes are on the official announcement—and whether software and durability can keep pace with the ambition.
