Samsung has begun rolling out a new software update for the entire Galaxy S21 series in the United States, including the Samsung Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, and the Galaxy S21 FE. The update brings the latest June 2025 security patch, addressing numerous vulnerabilities in both Samsung’s software and the core Android operating system.

The rollout has commenced for carrier-locked variants, with a broader release for unlocked models expected to follow shortly.

Owners of the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra can identify the new firmware by the build number G99*USQSGHYF2. For Galaxy S21 FE users, the update carries the build number G990USQSHHYF4.

The central component of this update is the June 2025 security patch. According to Samsung’s bulletin, this patch resolves 19 vulnerabilities specific to the company’s One UI software, in addition to dozens of security flaws found within the underlying Android OS.

End of Major OS Upgrades for Most of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series

This update also serves as a reminder of the S21 series’ position in its software support lifecycle. For the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra, this is a security-focused update only. These devices recently received their final major OS upgrade with One UI 7.0 (Android 15) and will now exclusively receive security patches until their support period concludes.

However, the Galaxy S21 FE stands apart. Due to its later release date, it remains eligible for the upcoming Android 16 (One UI 8) update. It is expected to receive One UI 8.5 as well, after which it will transition to a security-only update schedule, joining the rest of the S21 lineup.
