Now you can restore deleted messages on WhatsApp, but only if you’re fast enough

WhatsApp has launched a new functionality that allows users to recover deleted messages. If you accidentally deleted a message, the app will now offer you a small window, visible for five seconds, within which you can restore the deleted message.

You currently have two options for deleting messages: “Delete for me” and “Delete for everyone”. Prior to the introduction of the latest feature, if you accidentally chose “Delete for me” instead of “Delete for everyone”, there was no way to go back and delete again the way you actually wanted, which can be frustrating if you need to remove something sensitive from a group conversation. Five seconds may not be much, but it’s enough to quickly fix an annoying mistake.

This feature started rolling out in beta mid-year and is now officially available for iOS and Android.
