Nokia will build A1 Austria’s 5G radio and core network in a multi-year deal
|Via an official press release, the Finnish telecommunications giant Nokia announced that the company won a multi-year deal with Austria’s A1 Telecom for which the Finns will be build the 5G radio and the network core. Nokia taunts long-lasting partnership with A1 Austria in the press release, as well as successful 4G and 5G network slicing pilot as a predecessor for commercial implementation.
A1 will use Nokia’s AirScale portfolio including base stations, 5G RAN and radio access products, as well as commercially launch the mentioned 4G and 5G network slicing. The deployment is already on the way and the core elements should be rolled out by the end of first half of 2021. Nokia’s goal is help A1 provide nation-wide 5G cover, while the two partners already deployed a number of private 5G networks.
