#Nokia to build and manage #LTE/#5G-ready network in #Mexico

Nokia scored a big contract with ALTAN, a new Mexican carrier, to build and manage nationwide LTE network, that will utilize the 700MHz frequency band. The new network is a public-private partnership initiative that will cost 7 billion dollars in the next 9 years. This will also be a 5G-ready network.

This project is the first for Nokia in deployment of a 100% virtualized core network in Latin America. Nokia will also implement 40% of the networks RAN, IP backhaul, OSS and NOC Technologies. Nokia’s deployment will take place in 5 out if 9 Mexican regions, and the whole project should cover 92% of the population with wireless broadband.

Nokia will also manage the system, and touts the job as the largest-ever contract by scale in Latin America for the Company.
