It’s Official: This is #Nokia #6, #HMD’s first #Android smartphone

Today, on January 8th, 2017, HMD officially unveiled its first Nokia-branded Android device – Nokia 6.

New design philosophy embraces much-loved Nokia phone hallmarks of quality, superior craftsmanship and relentless focus on the consumer experience

The Nokia 6 comes with a high-class 6000-series aluminum unibody, which Nokia describes as “an aluminium unibody with the highest level of visual and structural quality.” The phone comes with a “bright hybrid in-cell 5.5” screen with full HD resolution and incredible colour reproduction wrapped in 2.5D Gorilla Glass.”

With the arrival of Nokia 6, consumers will see superior craftsmanship and design quality in action. It takes 55 minutes to machine a single Nokia 6 from a solid block of 6000 series aluminium. It then receives two separate anodising processes, taking over ten hours to complete, with each phone being polished no less than five times. The end result is an aluminium unibody with the highest level of visual and structural quality.

The processor used is Snapdragon 430. The device also features 4GB RAM, and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via MicroSD card. Dolby Atmos and dual amplifiers are there for amazing sound, and a 16MP back and 8MP front camera with f/2.0 lesnes and “exclusive” camera UI will make taking photos with the 6 an amazing experience.

Arto Nummela, CEO, HMD Global said: “Just a short while ago we announced the launch of HMD Global. From the outset we have stated that we intend to move with speed to establish a position as a player in the smartphone category and create products that truly meet consumer needs. The Nokia 6 is a result of listening to our consumers who desire a beautifully crafted handset with exceptional durability, entertainment and display features.

Our ambition is to deliver a premium product, which meets consumer needs at every price point, in every market. We start today, with our premium, high quality Nokia 6; built to deliver a fantastic core user experience for Chinese consumers. We look forward to unveiling further products in the first half of this year.”

Love the overall phone design. But I do have some complaints. The battery should have been bigger considering the thickness and size of the screen . And the launcher looks ugly without an apps button. I hope they don’t go using the same design principles that chinese oems use in their software.
Other observations: they kept their world and released a product before the end of the year, the chinese year :))). No special features announced for the camera. And hopefully because it’s a chinese only phone for now it ecplains the use of capacitive buttons and shitty icon design. Oh and listen here ,: The display stack is laminated together with a polarizer layer enabling excellent sunlight readability and slim form. ” – aka clearblack

    Only two issues-
No Carl Zeiss in mid rangers
Pricing is not good looking at the competition
Everything else is perfect, and think the UI will be different in global versions..

    • I’m not familiar with other Android phones, but 64GB of storage and 4GB RAM is pretty good for 250$ + good build quality

I’m not sure whether sd430 can fully utilize 4gb of RAM or not..

        • It’s a 64-bit SoC, so yes.

          • Rce

But sd430 is a low end processor just 1.4ghz that too cortex a-53..

          • It’s high end enough to use 4GB RAM 😛

            Lol 😀
