Spotify audiobooks are coming to more than 180 markets, with access depending on your plan

Spotify

Spotify is expanding its audiobook service from 22 markets to more than 180 by the end of 2026. The rollout begins on October 7 and will continue over the coming months, bringing audiobooks to many listeners who previously could not access them through the platform. Availability will arrive in stages, and the way people pay or use included listening hours will differ by country.

More books in more languages

Listeners in newly added markets will have access to a selection of more than 350,000 titles. Spotify says its audiobook collection spans over 120 languages, supported by partnerships with more than 300 publishers worldwide, including Planeta and Mondadori.

Local-language catalogs will be central to the expansion. In Spain, for example, Spotify says listeners will be able to choose from more than 45,000 Spanish-language titles. The selection will vary from one market to another.

Spotify’s growing audiobook business

Spotify says its monthly audiobook audience grew by 40% over the past year, while listening hours increased by 30%. The company also reports that Audiobooks+ has attracted more than one million subscribers and generates over $100 million in annual recurring revenue.

The expansion follows a series of audiobook features intended to make books easier to discover and use. Audiobook Charts surface popular titles, while Page Match helps readers find the corresponding point in an audiobook after scanning a page of a printed book. Spotify has also introduced tools for authors to create audio editions and has experimented with selling physical books in select markets.

For listeners, the main change is greater access—not identical access everywhere. Whether a particular book is included with Premium, available through Audiobooks+ or sold separately will depend on the local catalog and subscription terms.
