Vivo X Fold 6 Premium Foldable Launched in India: A Rs 70,000 Jump for Huge Upgrades

Vivo has officially launched the X Fold 6 in the Indian market, bringing a substantial price increase alongside major hardware upgrades. Positioned as a direct competitor in the ultra-premium foldable segment, the device launches with a single configuration—12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage—priced at Rs 2,19,999. This represents a staggering Rs 70,000 premium over its predecessor, the X Fold5.

However, that increased price tag buys a thoroughly redesigned foldable powerhouse, headlined by a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor, a 200MP primary camera, and an immense battery capacity equivalent to 6,900mAh. As an added incentive, Vivo is bundling a three-month subscription to Google AI Pro, which includes 5TB of cloud storage.

Vivo X Fold 6 Display and Durability

The X Fold 6 features a dual-display setup, utilizing an 8.02-inch primary inner folding screen and a 6.51-inch external cover display. Both LTPO 8T panels carry Vivo’s ZEISS Master Color certification, support adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rates, and boast a local peak brightness of 5,000 nits. The inner screen is constructed with premium SDC M14 light-emitting materials. Crucially for low-light users, both displays can dim down to a mere 1 nit.

The device is housed within a 2.5D metal frame with rounded corners, featuring a circular camera module bordered by a color-matched Deco ring. In India, the device will be available in a striking Nebula Teal finish.

Durability has seen a major focus. The X Fold 6 secures IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance, alongside an IP5X dust resistance rating. Vivo claims the device can be repeatedly folded underwater, citing internal tests of 1,000 submerged folds at a depth of one meter. Furthermore, the phone is rated to operate in temperatures as low as –20°C.

Performance and Battery Endurance

Under the hood, Vivo has partnered with MediaTek to integrate the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset, specifically tuned for AI and heavy multitasking within Vivo’s Origin Workbench environment. The company states this optimization yields a 10% reduction in multitasking power consumption compared to the previous generation.

Battery technology is arguably the device’s standout feature. Utilizing a dual-cell architecture with fifth-generation silicon-anode technology and a semi-solid-state design, the battery delivers an equivalent capacity of 6,900mAh. This setup is specifically engineered to maintain stable discharge rates even in freezing temperatures.

According to Vivo’s laboratory data, the X Fold 6 can sustain 7.43 hours of continuous Microsoft Teams video conferencing—a 47% improvement over the X Fold5.

Cameras: ZEISS Optics and 200MP Resolution

The camera system on the X Fold 6 pushes foldable photography boundaries. The primary shooter utilizes a massive 200MP Samsung HPB sensor (1/1.4-inch) with OIS. It is flanked by a 50MP Sony LYT-602 periscope telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, alongside a 50MP ultra-wide sensor.

All three rear lenses feature the signature ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating. Driven by Vivo’s custom Imaging Chip V3+, the device supports advanced computational photography, including 4K 60fps portrait video and multi-focal length portrait photography. The foldable design enables unique utilities, such as using the external screen as a teleprompter or displaying animations to capture the attention of children and pets during photoshoots.
