No GTA V on Android. Unofficial Native Port Cancelled
An unofficial project to run Grand Theft Auto V natively on Android has been cancelled following a cease-and-desist letter from Take-Two Interactive. Project lead Mojso says the group behind the port, Paralympics Productions, will cease operations on October 3, 2026. Its earlier native Nintendo Switch project is also ending.
The developers say they will not release either a playable build or the project’s source code, citing the risk of further legal action. For players who had been following its progress, that means the Android version will not receive a public release.
What made the port different?
Some Android users run the PC version of GTA V through compatibility tools such as Winlator. Paralympics Productions was pursuing a different approach: adapting the game to run directly on ARM-based hardware rather than relying on a layer that translates software designed for a PC.
A successful native port might have delivered better performance and controls designed for a phone. Those benefits remained possibilities, however, not demonstrated features of a finished public release.
Why the project ended
Reports say the port drew heavily on GTA V source code leaked in 2023. If so, that would raise a different and more serious issue than simply building an independent tool to run a game a user already owns. Take-Two has also opposed unauthorized releases of its games on platforms it does not officially support.
Mojso has confirmed receiving a cease-and-desist letter but has not provided a detailed public account of the legal claims. The reported use of leaked code should therefore be attributed to reporting, rather than presented as a confirmed finding about every part of the project.
The shutdown does not rule out an official Android version of GTA V someday. It does, though, bring this particular effort to a close. For now, Android players looking to access the game must consider options such as PC compatibility tools or streaming it from another device or service, where available.
