Google Teases Android 18 and New Graphics Features Ahead of October Dev Summit

Google is reviving its Android Dev Summit this October, dropping the first official hints about Android 18 and teasing major graphical upgrades months ahead of the operating system’s formal release.
Scheduled for October 28 and 29 at Google’s Bay View campus in Mountain View, California, the two-day developer conference recently published its official agenda. While the event is heavily tailored toward software engineers, the schedule notably references Android 18 directly, explicitly promising the unveiling of “powerful new graphics features.” Though specific technical details remain under wraps, this marks one of the first official breadcrumbs regarding the upcoming OS iteration.

The summit will kick off with a keynote address from Android leadership, offering a prime platform for Google to outline its vision for Android 18. Beyond the core operating system, the event’s programming is divided into four primary tracks: AI experiences, Android XR (Extended Reality), app foundations, and tools and performance. These focus areas strongly suggest a strategic push toward integrating artificial intelligence and spatial computing more deeply into the Android ecosystem.
In-person attendance is restricted to selected professional developers via application, but the broader public and industry watchers will be able to stream the keynote live. While a comprehensive Android 18 rollout is still months away, the October summit guarantees an early, significant look into Google’s software roadmap and future feature set.
