Xiaomi is expanding its affordable 5G smartphone portfolio in India with the upcoming release of the REDMI 17C 5G. Scheduled for an official launch on October 1, the device arrives on the subcontinent following its initial debut in Singapore last month, promising a compelling mix of robust battery life and a high refresh rate display for the budget-conscious segment.

Teasers released by the tech giant indicate that the Indian variant will closely mirror its global counterpart. The smartphone features an expansive 6.9-inch 720p LCD panel, elevated by a fluid 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Aesthetically, consumers will have three colorways to choose from: Dark Night, Purple Dawn, and Coffee Brown, with the latter expected to sport a premium vegan leather-style textured finish.

Under the hood, the REDMI 17C 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor. While specific memory configurations for the Indian market remain unconfirmed, the Singaporean model ships with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD. The device runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, and carries an IP64 rating for reliable protection against dust and splashes.
