Samsung Galaxy S27 Series Charging Speeds Leak: Pro and Ultra Could Reach 60W
Samsung may be preparing to retain 60W wired charging for its next Ultra flagship while extending the same capability to a new Galaxy S27 Pro model.
For several generations, Samsung capped wired charging on its Galaxy S flagship phones at 45W. That changed with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which introduced support for faster 60W charging. New certification information now suggests that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could maintain that charging standard when it arrives next year.
More interestingly, the Galaxy S27 Ultra may not be alone. A second premium model, expected to launch as the Galaxy S27 Pro, has also appeared with 60W charging support.
Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra appear in 3C database
Two upcoming Samsung smartphones have surfaced in China’s 3C certification database under the model numbers SM-S9570 and SM-S9580.
Based on listings in the GSMA IMEI database, the devices are expected to launch as the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra.
The Galaxy S27 Pro would represent a notable change to Samsung’s flagship naming strategy. The company has traditionally used standard, Plus and Ultra branding for its Galaxy S devices, but the arrival of a Pro version would mark the first time Samsung has introduced a Pro-branded S-series flagship.
The 3C listings indicate that both the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will support 60W wired charging.
Samsung is expected to continue shipping its flagship phones without a charging adapter in the box. Buyers who want to take advantage of the maximum 60W charging speed will therefore likely need to purchase a compatible charger separately if they do not already own one.
An unusual charging hierarchy
The reported charging speeds would create an unusual split within the Galaxy S27 family.
The standard Galaxy S27 is said to support 45W wired charging, matching the maximum speed that Samsung used across several previous Galaxy S generations. The larger Galaxy S27 Plus, however, is reportedly limited to 27W charging.
That would leave the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra as the only models in the range capable of reaching 60W charging speeds.
The difference is notable because Plus-branded Galaxy S models have traditionally served as larger alternatives to the standard model. If Samsung proceeds with a Pro version, the company may be repositioning its lineup more aggressively, with the Pro and Ultra models reserved for the most advanced charging and premium hardware features.
Samsung has not officially confirmed the naming, specifications or charging capabilities of any Galaxy S27 device, so the information should still be viewed as preliminary.
Wireless charging is also expected
All four Galaxy S27 models are expected to support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
Wireless charging will allow users to recharge their phones with compatible charging pads or stands, while reverse wireless charging will enable the devices to provide power to accessories such as wireless earbuds, smartwatches and other compatible phones.
These are familiar features for Samsung’s premium smartphones, but their expected presence across the entire S27 range would ensure that the company maintains a consistent wireless charging experience regardless of model.
The more important difference between the devices may therefore come down to wired charging performance. The Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra could become the clear options for users who place a premium on shorter charging times.
Early certification could indicate an earlier launch
The appearance of the Galaxy S27, S27 Plus, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra in China’s 3C certification database means that all four expected flagship models have now reportedly cleared an important regulatory step.
The timing is also noteworthy. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series appeared in the same database in January 2026 before making its official debut in March.
The Galaxy S27 series has emerged much earlier in the certification process, which could point to an earlier launch window. Samsung may be preparing to announce the new flagship range as soon as January 2027.
An earlier debut would give Samsung a head start in the annual flagship cycle and could position the Galaxy S27 family against competing premium Android devices before the next major wave of launches arrives.
For now, the early certification records offer only a partial look at Samsung’s plans. However, the possibility of a new Pro-branded model, expanded 60W charging support and a January 2027 launch could make the Galaxy S27 series a more substantial update than a routine annual refresh.
