Poco X8 Unveiled: AMOLED Display, 8,340mAh Battery, and Rugged Design

Poco has officially launched the Poco X8 for the global market, positioning the new device as a powerhouse of battery longevity and rugged durability. Aimed at consumers who prioritize reliability and screen quality, the new mid-range smartphone brings several high-end protective features and an unusually large battery capacity to an accessible price point.
Extreme Durability and Rugged Testing
The defining characteristic of the Poco X8 is its heavy emphasis on physical resilience. The device holds an impressive array of ingress protection certifications, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. According to Poco, the smartphone has successfully passed a 72-hour water immersion test at a depth of two meters, as well as a three-meter drop test. The front display is safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Record-Breaking Battery Capacity
Complementing its rugged exterior is a massive 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery. The device supports 67W HyperCharge wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing the Poco X8 to function as a power bank for other electronics.
Poco states that the battery is designed for longevity, retaining at least 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles. The system also supports standard USB PD 2.0 and 3.0 protocols. Despite the large battery and rugged build, the phone weighs 223 grams.
Display and Hardware Performance
The Poco X8 features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2772 x 1280 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. It delivers a standard touch sampling rate of 240Hz, which can instantly boost to 3,200Hz during supported gaming scenarios via the Game Turbo mode.
The panel is built for high visibility and eye comfort, offering a peak brightness of 3,500 nits and a typical brightness of 1,060 nits. It features 12-bit color depth, DC dimming, and 3,840Hz PWM dimming, backed by TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and flicker-free operation.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a 4nm octa-core chipset clocked at up to 2.4GHz. Memory configurations reach up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Notably, the 256GB models utilize faster UFS 3.1 storage, while the base 128GB version relies on UFS 2.2.
Cameras and AI Software
The rear camera module is straightforward, featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. A 16-megapixel camera handles front-facing duties. Video recording capabilities on both the front and rear cameras are capped at 1080p at 30 frames per second.
On the software side, the Poco X8 runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box. It integrates several AI-driven tools, including Google Gemini, Circle to Search, and AI Erase. Additional hardware features include NFC, an infrared blaster, dual stereo speakers, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
