Following the global rollout of the Redmi 17 4G and 5G earlier this month, Xiaomi’s sub-brand has quietly introduced another budget-friendly contender to the market. The Redmi 17C 5G has officially touched down in Singapore, targeting value-conscious consumers by prioritizing screen real estate, battery endurance, and next-generation connectivity.
Display and Design
The Redmi 17C 5G makes a bold statement with a massive 6.9-inch LCD panel. While the resolution sits at a modest 1600 × 720 pixels, the display boasts a remarkably fluid 120Hz refresh rate. It reaches 660 nits of typical brightness and peaks at 810 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM). To prioritize user comfort, the screen also includes DC dimming and TÜV Rheinland certifications to minimize eye strain.
Design-wise, the handset weighs in at 211 grams and features an 8.05mm profile. It also secures an IP64 rating, offering solid protection against dust and minor liquid splashes.
Performance and Battery Endurance
Under the hood, the smartphone is driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. This processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and a choice of either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. Power users can utilize memory expansion to push the RAM up to 8GB virtually, while a dedicated microSD slot allows for up to 1TB of additional storage.
One of the device’s main selling points is its colossal 6,000mAh battery. While the hardware supports swift 33W fast charging, buyers should note that Xiaomi only includes a 15W adapter in the retail box.

For photography, the rear camera island houses a 50-megapixel primary sensor (f/1.8) alongside an auxiliary lens. The setup handles 1080p video recording at 30fps and features software enhancements like HDR, Night mode, and Portrait mode. The front-facing 8-megapixel lens manages selfies and video calls, aided by a dedicated soft-light ring for low-light scenarios.
Out of the box, the Redmi 17C runs on Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3. It covers all the essential connectivity bases, offering dual SIM 5G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, an FM radio, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a classic 3.5mm headphone jack.

Currently available in Singapore, the Redmi 17C 5G is priced at S$279 (approximately $220 USD). Buyers can choose from three distinct colorways: a standard Black, a vibrant Purple, and a premium-looking Brown that features a vegan leather finish. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed a broader international release schedule for this model.
