HMD 2760 Flip 4G Leak: The Classic Clamshell Gets an Android Upgrade

HMD 2760 Flip 4G Leak

While HMD has spent the better part of this year flooding the market with traditional candy-bar feature phones, a glaring omission has left nostalgia-seeking consumers waiting. It has been over a year since the company released a proper clamshell device—the HMD 2660 Flip in March 2025. However, a new leak indicates that HMD is finally resurrecting the beloved flip-phone form factor, but this time, it is packing a modern twist that blurs the line between a basic handset and a full-fledged smartphone.

According to prominent tech tipster smashx_60, HMD is currently developing the HMD 2760 Flip 4G. Drawing heavy design inspiration from the 2022 Nokia 2760 Flip, the upcoming device promises to satisfy the craving for tactile, foldable phones while introducing serious software capabilities.

A Classic Design Meets Android Capabilities

Visually, the HMD 2760 Flip 4G sticks to a tried-and-true formula. The dual-display setup returns, featuring a 2.8-inch primary LCD on the interior and a convenient 1.77-inch cover screen on the exterior for quick notifications. Imaging is handled by a 5MP autofocus rear camera equipped with an LED flash, alongside a basic VGA front-facing camera for simple video calls.

The true generational leap, however, lies in the software. While the 2022 Nokia model ran on the highly limited KaiOS 3.1, industry whispers suggest this new HMD iteration will run Icon OS 13, a system based directly on Android 13 Go.

This is a massive shift. By incorporating Google Mobile Services and the Google Play Store, HMD is effectively transforming a traditional feature phone into a lightweight, highly capable smartphone. Users will have access to a vast ecosystem of modern applications, bridging the gap for consumers who want a digital detox but still require essential smart apps. And for the purists, the legendary Snake game will reportedly come pre-installed.

HMD 2760 Flip 4G: Substantial Hardware Upgrades

To support the heavier Android operating system, HMD has significantly beefed up the phone’s internals.

  • Processor: Unisoc T310 (a 12nm quad-core chip reaching up to 2 GHz)

  • Memory & Storage: 2 GB of RAM paired with 32 GB of internal storage

  • Expansion: MicroSD slot supporting up to 128 GB

  • Battery: 2,500 mAh (a massive upgrade from the previous 1,450 mAh cell)

The expanded battery is a particularly welcome addition, ensuring the device can handle the increased power draw of Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities and modern apps while maintaining the multi-day endurance flip phones are famous for.

Additional practical features include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a USB-C charging port, Bluetooth connectivity, a dedicated SOS key for emergencies, and an integrated touchpad for easier navigation.

The HMD 2760 Flip 4G will reportedly be available in Black, Cyan, and Pink colorways. While an official release date remains under wraps, this leaked device represents a bold step up in capability, offering a perfect middle ground for users who want the tactile satisfaction of hanging up a call by snapping their phone shut, without entirely abandoning the modern digital world.
