Xiaomi 18 Pro Rumors Point to Dual 200MP Cameras and a Massive Battery

Xiaomi 18 Pro

Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone generation may be moving closer to launch. A new device believed to be part of the Xiaomi 18 series has reportedly appeared in China’s State Radio Regulation (SRRC) certification database, offering another indication that the company is progressing through the final regulatory and testing steps ahead of an expected autumn announcement.

The newly listed handset carries the model number M154FF, according to information shared by leaker Digital Chat Station. While certification filings rarely reveal a complete specification sheet, this one reportedly confirms support for the N79 5G frequency band and ultra-wideband, or UWB, connectivity.

UWB is typically reserved for premium smartphones, where it can enable more accurate device tracking, digital-key functions and proximity-based interactions with compatible accessories. Its inclusion has fuelled speculation that the newly certified model is not the standard Xiaomi 18, but the more expensive Xiaomi 18 Pro.

UWB Points to a Premium Model

The appearance of UWB technology does not conclusively identify the phone, but it does provide a meaningful clue. Xiaomi has historically differentiated its higher-end devices through advanced connectivity, camera hardware and charging capabilities, making the Pro variant the most likely candidate for a feature of this kind.

Certification documents are not product announcements, and they do not confirm pricing, a final name or complete specifications. Still, their emergence usually signals that a device is approaching commercial release, particularly when they align with an expanding stream of supply-chain and prototype-stage leaks.

For Xiaomi, the timing would make sense. The company’s current flagship cycle has traditionally centred on a late-summer or early-autumn launch window, putting the Xiaomi 18 series on track for a possible September unveiling.

A 2nm Snapdragon Chip Is Expected

Previous reports from Digital Chat Station suggest that Xiaomi is testing the Xiaomi 18 Pro with a next-generation 2nm flagship chipset, widely expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. If accurate, the device could be among the first smartphones to use Qualcomm’s next top-tier processor.

A move to a 2nm chip would be significant, at least on paper. Newer manufacturing processes are generally intended to deliver better performance and power efficiency, though real-world gains will depend heavily on Qualcomm’s architecture, thermal design, Xiaomi’s software tuning and the phone’s battery management.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro is also said to be under development with a custom high-end display featuring an exceptionally clear panel, pronounced rounded corners and thin, symmetrical bezels on all four sides. That approach would follow the broader industry push toward more uniform display borders and a more refined front-facing design.

Dual 200MP Cameras Could Define the Hardware

The camera system could be one of the Xiaomi 18 Pro’s most ambitious upgrades. The phone has been tipped to feature two 200-megapixel sensors: one serving as the main camera and another used for telephoto photography.

If Xiaomi delivers that configuration, the device would stand apart from many current flagships, which typically reserve ultra-high-resolution sensors for a single main camera. A 200MP telephoto module could potentially provide more flexibility for cropping and high-resolution zoom photography, although sensor size, lens quality, image processing and optical stabilization will ultimately matter more than megapixel count alone.

As always, high numbers do not automatically guarantee better images. Xiaomi’s ability to integrate the sensors with its computational photography pipeline — and any continued Leica camera collaboration — would be central to whether the hardware produces a meaningful advantage in everyday shooting.

Large Battery and 100W Charging Rumored

Battery capacity may be another major focus. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is reportedly being tested with a battery in the 7,000mAh class, a substantial increase over the capacities traditionally found in compact premium flagships.

The device is also said to support 100W wired charging and 100W wireless charging. Such a combination would give Xiaomi a potentially powerful marketing advantage, particularly if the company can maintain manageable charging temperatures and avoid making the handset excessively thick or heavy.

Additional rumoured upgrades include dual stereo speakers and a larger haptic motor, both of which would point to a broader effort to improve everyday multimedia use and tactile feedback rather than concentrating only on benchmark performance.

Another reportedly planned feature is a Samsung-style privacy display mode. Although the exact implementation remains unclear, the concept generally involves reducing off-angle screen visibility to make it more difficult for nearby people to read sensitive information displayed on the phone.

Xiaomi 17 Pro Sets a High Baseline

The forthcoming model will have a demanding predecessor to surpass. Xiaomi’s current 17 Pro launched in September with a 6.3-inch display, a 6,300mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It was also among the first devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro further distinguished itself with a rear-facing Magic Screen and a triple 50MP Leica-branded camera system led by the Light Hunter 950L main sensor. Its starting price was set at 4,999 yuan in China, placing it firmly in the premium segment.

If the Xiaomi 18 Pro arrives with a 2nm processor, dual 200MP cameras, UWB, a larger battery and faster wireless charging, it would represent an aggressive hardware-focused evolution rather than a minor yearly refresh.

Certification Signals a Nearer Launch

Xiaomi has yet to confirm the Xiaomi 18 series, its specifications or a launch date. However, the reported SRRC certification appearance suggests the lineup is moving beyond internal development and toward the final stages required before release.

With Qualcomm’s next flagship chip expected to emerge in September, Xiaomi may be positioning the Xiaomi 18 Pro for an announcement soon afterward. Until the company makes the device official, though, the specifications, product name and release schedule should remain firmly in the rumour category.
