Motorola Edge 70 Max Launched in India: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a 7,100mAh Battery

Motorola Edge 70 Max

Motorola has officially expanded its high-end smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the Motorola Edge 70 Max. Positioned strategically between the Edge 70 Pro+ and the flagship Edge 70 Signature, this latest entrant delivers a formidable combination of top-tier silicon, military-grade durability, and a groundbreaking silicon-carbon battery, all wrapped in a sleek form factor.

A Display and Performance Powerhouse

At the heart of the Edge 70 Max is Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, ensuring flagship-grade performance and AI-processing capabilities. This powerful silicon is paired with up to 12GB of cutting-edge LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of ultra-fast UFS 4.1 internal storage, designed to handle intensive multitasking and demanding applications with ease.

The visual experience is anchored by a massive 6.8-inch Quad HD+ Extreme AMOLED LTPO display. The panel is built for both fluidity and brilliance, featuring a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate, a highly responsive 360Hz touch sampling rate, and an industry-leading peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits. Protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i, the screen also supports premium visual standards like Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Engineering a Battery Breakthrough

Perhaps the most impressive engineering feat of the Edge 70 Max is its power source. Motorola has managed to integrate a massive 7,100mAh fourth-generation silicon-carbon battery into a chassis that measures just 8.29mm thick.

When it is time to recharge, the device supports blazing-fast 90W wired TurboPower charging. Additionally, it embraces the new wireless charging standard with 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging—making it compatible with MagSafe-style accessories—alongside 5W wired reverse charging for powering up smaller peripherals.

To manage the thermal output of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and the high-density battery, Motorola has implemented a comprehensive cooling architecture. This includes a massive 5,500mm² vapor chamber integrated into an advanced cooling system that covers a total thermal area of 29,550mm².

Durability Meets Long-Term Software Support

Motorola is not taking any chances with durability. The Edge 70 Max boasts MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification, alongside a rare trifecta of IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, making it exceptionally resistant to dust, deep water submersion, and high-pressure water jets.

On the software front, the device ships with Android 16 customized with Motorola’s Hello UX interface. The company is promising a solid support lifecycle, guaranteeing three major Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches. Additional premium features include Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and stereo speakers enhanced by Dolby Atmos and Snapdragon Sound.

Pricing and Availability in India

The Motorola Edge 70 Max is positioned aggressively in the premium-midrange segment. The base model featuring 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at Rs 54,999 (approximately $570). Power users can opt for the 12GB RAM variant, priced at Rs 59,999 (approximately $625).

Continuing its successful partnership with Pantone, Motorola is offering the device in three striking, color-validated finishes: Pantone Aqua Gray, Pantone Ice Melt, and Pantone Dark Shadow. Official sales are scheduled to commence on July 20, 2026, across Flipkart, Motorola India’s official channels, and authorized offline retail stores.
