HyperOS 4 is coming soon: Xiaomi’s next OS may launch next month

HyperOS 4

Xiaomi’s next major software release now looks close enough to move from rumor to expectation. Multiple reports indicate that HyperOS 4 is scheduled to debut in China sometime between July and August, with the strongest signals pointing to an announcement as early as next month. While Xiaomi has not fully detailed the update yet, the company has already confirmed that a new-generation operating system is on the way this summer.

That timing matters because HyperOS 4 is shaping up to be more than a routine annual refresh. Early reports describe the update as a broader overhaul focused on smoother animations, improved system responsiveness, deeper AI integration, and a more refined visual language. Xiaomi is also said to be working on under-the-hood architecture changes intended to improve long-term stability and reduce the performance slowdown that can accumulate over time on heavily used phones.

Artificial intelligence appears to be one of the central themes. Reports tied to Xiaomi’s roadmap repeatedly mention a stronger “Super AI” push, suggesting that HyperOS 4 may place intelligent features more deeply into the operating system rather than treating them as isolated apps or utilities. That would align Xiaomi with a broader industry trend in which software platforms are becoming increasingly defined by system-level AI tools rather than standalone features.

The first wave of devices is also beginning to take shape. Current reports suggest that the Xiaomi 17 series and Redmi K90 family could be among the earliest models to receive beta builds in China, with stable releases likely following first on Xiaomi’s newer flagship hardware. A wider rollout covering Redmi and POCO devices is expected to come later, while global availability may lag China by several weeks and could begin around October if Xiaomi follows its usual release pattern.

That said, not every eligible-looking device is expected to make the cut. Some reports already point to exclusions, with the Redmi Note 14 5G and POCO M7 Pro 5G mentioned as devices likely to remain on the current software track due to their original update commitments. If accurate, that would be a reminder that HyperOS 4 may be a major release, but it will still arrive within the familiar limits of Xiaomi’s software support policies.

As always, some caution is necessary before the official announcement. Xiaomi has confirmed the timing window for its next-generation operating system, but not every claimed feature, supported device, or rollout date has been independently finalized by the company. Even so, the direction is becoming clearer: HyperOS 4 is approaching quickly, and Xiaomi seems intent on making it a more meaningful platform update than a simple version-number jump.
