ColorOS 16.1 Rollout Schedule for Oppo and OnePlus Devices

ColorOS 16.1 Rollout

Following a series of teasers last week, Oppo has officially unveiled the comprehensive timeline for the ColorOS 16.1 rollout, detailing when eligible Oppo and OnePlus devices will receive the highly anticipated software update. The official schedule confirms that the stable release will commence in early May 2026, while a select group of flagship smartphones will get a head start with the beta program later this month.

The company shared the specific details regarding the ColorOS 16.1 rollout through a post on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. According to the announcement, the application window for the beta testing phase officially closes at midnight on April 17. This initial beta phase is highly exclusive, restricted solely to users of the Oppo Find X9 series and the OnePlus 15. The software development team will evaluate the submitted beta applications between April 18 and April 24, with the beta firmware expected to reach approved participants starting April 21.

For the general public, the stable ColorOS 16.1 rollout is meticulously divided into two main deployment waves. The first batch of devices is scheduled to receive the update between May 10 and May 20, 2026. This premium tier includes foldable devices like the Oppo Find N6 and Find N5, alongside flagship models such as the Oppo Find X9, Find X8, and Find X8s series. The initial wave also encompasses the Oppo Pad 4 Pro, the OnePlus Tablet 2 Pro, the OnePlus 15 and 13 series, as well as the OnePlus Ace 6 and Turbo 6 lineups.

The second phase of the stable deployment is set to occur from May 21 to May 31, 2026. During this period, the software will be pushed to the Oppo Find X7 series, Reno 15 series, Reno 14 Pro series, K15 series, K13 Turbo Pro, and the Oppo Pad 5. On the OnePlus side, the update will cover the OnePlus 12, the OnePlus Ace 5 series, and the standard OnePlus Tablet 2. It is important to note that this specific ColorOS 16.1 rollout roadmap currently applies exclusively to devices sold in the Chinese market, though a global deployment schedule is expected to be published shortly.

Beyond the deployment timeline, the update promises a significantly refined user experience through a variety of new features and aesthetic upgrades. Users can look forward to a completely redesigned, stacked notification center and an iOS-inspired media player integrated directly into the lock screen. A major functional addition is a new pill-shaped user interface element at the bottom of the lock screen, which functions similarly to Samsung’s Now Bar and aims to provide seamless animations and immersive transitions. Furthermore, the system brings heavily revamped Live Activities that now support real-time tracking for ongoing calls, voice recordings, timers, the flashlight, and navigation maps.

As the company prepares for this substantial release, it is also looking toward the future, having already initiated beta testing for the upcoming Android 17 on a select number of devices.
