WhatsApp Rolls Out Multiple Accounts, Cross-Platform Chat Transfer, and New AI Tools

WhatsApp is rolling out a broad set of new features aimed at making the app more flexible, easier to manage, and better suited to users who switch between devices or juggle different accounts. The update includes support for multiple accounts on iPhone, cable-free chat transfers between platforms, improved storage management tools, smarter sticker suggestions, and wider access to AI-powered writing and photo editing features.
One of the most notable additions is multiple account support on iOS. With this update, iPhone users can now sign in to two separate WhatsApp accounts within the same app and switch between them without logging out. Each account keeps its own chats, notifications, and settings, making it easier to separate personal and professional conversations. The feature has already been available on Android for some time, and its arrival on iPhone finally brings parity between the two platforms.
WhatsApp is also introducing a more seamless cross-platform transfer system. Users can now move their chat history between iPhone and Android devices without relying on a cable, as long as both devices are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. The goal is to simplify the migration process and reduce friction when switching phones, while preserving messages, media, and other conversation data.
Storage management is receiving a practical upgrade as well. WhatsApp now allows users to check how much space an individual chat is consuming directly from the chat info screen, without digging through the app’s broader settings menu. Shared photos, videos, and documents can be viewed in a grid, sorted by newest, oldest, or largest, and deleted in batches. The app is also adding more precise cleanup options, including the ability to clear only media files from a conversation instead of wiping everything.
Another new convenience feature comes in the form of sticker suggestions. When users type an emoji in chat, WhatsApp can now recommend related stickers, including third-party options where available. The feature is designed to make sticker discovery faster and more intuitive, with larger search results helping users browse a wider set of options.
In regions where Meta AI is already available, WhatsApp is further expanding AI-powered tools inside chats. Users can now edit and enhance photos directly before sending them, without needing to open a separate conversation with Meta AI. These tools can apply visual styles, refine image details, add new elements, and even animate photos with motion effects, turning the editor into a more creative in-chat tool.
WhatsApp is also once again highlighting Writing Help, its AI-assisted composition tool that helps users improve grammar, tone, and phrasing before sending a message. The company says this feature relies on Private Processing, a secure cloud-based system designed to ensure that neither WhatsApp nor Meta can read the original message content or the AI-generated suggestions.
According to WhatsApp, these features are now being rolled out widely and should reach more users over the coming weeks. In most cases, they are expected to appear automatically, although keeping the app updated remains the best way to ensure access as soon as the rollout reaches a specific device.
