Redmi Turbo 5 Max Revealed: 9,000mAh Battery and Flagship Performance Confirmed

Redmi continues to aggressively target the performance-focused mid-range market with the official confirmation of its next major release. The Xiaomi sub-brand announced today that the Redmi Turbo 5 series will debut in China on January 29. The lineup will consist of two distinct devices: the standard Redmi Turbo 5 and the higher-end Redmi Turbo 5 Max.
Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group and General Manager of Redmi, took to Weibo to outline the strategic vision for the new series. Amidst an industry-wide trend of rising component costs, Weibing emphasized that the Turbo line is designed to defend the competitive 2,500 Yuan (~$360) price segment without compromising on speed or stability.
Redmi Turbo 5 Max: Flagship Power in the Mid-Range
The spotlight of the announcement is undoubtedly the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. Marking a significant shift in hardware strategy, Weibing confirmed that this model will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. This is the first time the Turbo series has adopted a flagship-tier Dimensity 9000-class processor, signaling Redmi’s intent to challenge devices priced in the 4,000 Yuan (~$575) bracket.
However, the most striking specification is the power system. The Redmi Turbo 5 Max is confirmed to house a massive 9,000mAh battery. Despite the sheer capacity, Redmi claims that through the optimization of Xiaomi’s HyperOS power management, real-world endurance could surpass competitors equipped with even larger 10,000mAh cells.
The “Max” moniker also applies to the display; the device will feature a large 6.83-inch screen. Official images teased by the brand showcase the Redmi Turbo 5 Max in a bold orange colorway, hinting at a refined design language that includes improved haptics and comprehensive water resistance.
The Standard Turbo 5
Alongside the Max variant, the standard Redmi Turbo 5 offers a slightly more compact alternative. It will feature a 6.59-inch display and is expected to be powered by the Dimensity 8500 chipset. Official teasers show this model in a clean white finish.
remarkably, reports indicate that the standard model will not compromise on endurance, packing the same 9,000mAh battery capacity as its larger sibling. Both devices in the series are expected to support 100W wired fast charging, ensuring that the massive batteries can be replenished quickly.
With the launch just days away, the Turbo 5 series appears poised to redefine consumer expectations for battery life and processing power in the sub-flagship category.
