Xiaomi narrows eligibility for HyperOS 3.1 to Android 16 devices — older Android 15 builds won’t qualify

HyperOS 3.1

Xiaomi has confirmed that HyperOS 3.1 will be available only on devices running Android 16. In practice, that means phones still on Android 15 with HyperOS 3 will not receive the 3.1 update due to platform alignment—continuing Xiaomi’s policy of tying certain HyperOS milestones to underlying Android version upgrades (as seen during the HyperOS 2 era).

HyperOS 3.1: What’s new (and what’s rumored)

While Xiaomi hasn’t published a full changelog yet, HyperOS 3.1 is expected to introduce an iOS-style Recents interface aimed at smoother multitasking. Early signals also point to additional customization options, potentially including resizable Control Center tiles in line with Android 16. These UI changes are likely to appear in upcoming beta builds before wider release.

Devices that won’t get HyperOS 3.1

Per Xiaomi’s current stance, the following models are not slated to receive HyperOS 3.1:

  • POCO: F5 5G, F5 Pro, M6 Pro, X6 Neo

  • Redmi: 13C; K50 Ultra; K60; K60 Pro; Note 12T Pro; Note 12 Turbo; Note 13 5G; Note 13R Pro

  • Xiaomi: 12, 12 Pro, 12S, 12S Pro, 12S Ultra, 12T, 12T Pro, Civi 3, MIX Fold 2, Pad 6 Max 14

What Xiaomi plans with HyperOS 3.1

Beyond UI tweaks, HyperOS 3.1 is positioned to refine cross-device consistency across phones, tablets, and AIoT hardware as part of the broader HyperConnect ecosystem. Expect a push toward a more unified look and feel and tighter multi-device handoffs.

Not on Android 16? You’re not abandoned

If your device remains on Android 15, Xiaomi says it will continue to deliver security patches and select feature backports to maintain stability and polish. You won’t see the full 3.1 upgrade, but core performance and safety updates will keep rolling in.

Staying current

You can track official HyperOS updates via the built-in updater on your device. Community utilities (such as the MemeOS Enhancer app on Google Play) claim to surface hidden settings, system-app updates, and HyperOS packages; as always, use third-party tools at your own discretion.
