Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Rumored to Break 45W Charging Limit
|Samsung is currently enjoying a wave of success thanks to strong demand for its Galaxy Z Fold 7 series, but the company is already setting its sights on the next big thing: the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra lineup, slated for an early 2026 release. While leaks so far suggest a relatively incremental update—par for the course for Samsung’s flagship launches—there’s one rumor that’s generating real excitement: the long-awaited boost in fast charging speeds.
According to a recent leak from renowned tipster Universe Ice on X, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra might finally surpass the 45W fast charging ceiling, potentially boasting the fastest charging speeds in Samsung flagship history. The leaker claims it’s “100% confirmed,” but as always, until Samsung makes it official, these details should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.
This is not the first time the rumor mill has pointed to faster charging for the S26 Ultra, but the latest leak suggests we may see a significant leap—possibly up to 65W charging. If true, this would put Samsung much closer to Chinese competitors who have already normalized charging speeds of 65W, 120W, or even higher, although Samsung has so far stuck to its 45W “Super Fast Charging 2.0” since the Galaxy Note 10 Plus back in 2019.
Samsung’s current 45W fast charging relies on USB PD PPS (Programmable Power Supply) standards and requires both a compatible 45W charger and a 5A USB cable. A move to 65W USB PD PPS would strike an ideal balance between widespread compatibility and genuinely fast charging times for what is expected to be a 5,000mAh battery in the S26 Ultra.
However, there’s always the possibility that Samsung could opt for a proprietary charging solution. This would be less ideal for users, especially given that Samsung phones typically do not include a charger in the box, meaning buyers might have to purchase a new charger separately to unlock the device’s full charging potential.
As with all rumors, only time will tell what Samsung has planned for its next flagship. For now, the promise of significantly faster charging—after years of stagnation—could finally give power users and long-time fans a meaningful upgrade to look forward to.
