Exynos 2500 confirmed: Satellite Connectivity Coming to Galaxy Z Flip 7
|The Exynos 2500 is set to be Samsung’s next flagship processor, but until now, details have mostly been based on leaks and speculation. In a surprising move, the existence of the new chip has been officially confirmed—not by Samsung itself, but by Skylo, a company known for providing satellite connectivity.
If Skylo sounds familiar, it’s because they supply satellite services for both the Pixel 9 series and the upcoming Galaxy S25 series on Verizon. In a recent press release, Skylo announced, “We are excited to announce the certification of the Exynos 2500 mobile processor, offering better energy efficiency and higher performance.” This not only confirms the chip’s existence but also highlights its advanced satellite capabilities.
The Exynos 2500 is expected to make its debut in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, with rumors suggesting it may power Samsung’s new foldable phone in all global markets—including the US. Notably, this will mark the first time Samsung launches a flagship Exynos chip in a foldable device, rather than its Galaxy S series flagship.
“Samsung’s partnership with Skylo is built upon 3GPP NTN standards to unlock connectivity everywhere,” said Hui Won Je, VP of the Modem Development Team at Samsung Electronics, in Skylo’s press release. “Through our collaboration on the Samsung Exynos Modem 5400 and the Exynos 2500 mobile processor, mainstream devices worldwide will now have the underlying technology to connect to satellites wherever cellular networks are unavailable, ushering in a new era of ubiquitous connectivity.”
Skylo also revealed new partnerships with OPPO and TECNO to introduce NTN-compliant satellite connectivity in future devices from both brands, expanding the reach of satellite-enabled smartphones even further.
