Spring in the smartphone market is shaping up to be exceptionally exciting, and judging by the latest intelligence, April will be entirely dominated by Huawei. According to the renowned tipster Digital Chat Station on the Chinese social network Weibo, the highly anticipated Huawei Pura 90 series is expected to officially launch next month. While the Chinese tech giant has already confirmed that the more accessible Huawei Enjoy 90 lineup will debut this month, the most eagerly awaited premium announcements have been strategically pushed to April. The roster of upcoming devices also includes a new wide-form foldable model, the Huawei Pura X2, alongside two performance-oriented smartphones expected to be powered by the formidable MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor.

When it comes to the Pura 90 series itself, leaks reveal a carefully tiered lineup of devices. The standard Huawei Pura 90 will reportedly feature a 6.58-inch display, while the higher-end models in the range are expected to offer a more spacious 6.87-inch flat screen designed to deliver a premium visual and tactile experience. The hardware foundation will also follow this hierarchy, introducing new proprietary silicon solutions. The base model is expected to utilize the Kirin 9020 chip, whereas the Pro version should bring a significant upgrade in the form of the more robust Kirin 9030 processor. Sitting at the very top of the lineup, the rumored Ultra model is said to be powered by the even more advanced and impressive Kirin 9030 Pro chip.

Huawei’s foldable plans signify a serious leap forward with the upcoming Pura X2. This smartphone is slated to offer a noticeably wider foldable design compared to the previous generation, featuring a spacious 7.69-inch WQHD+ inner display alongside a highly practical 5.5-inch outer screen. Alongside the new form factor, the company is continuing its strong historical focus on photographic innovations. The foldable Pura X2 is tipped to be equipped with an advanced quad-camera system branded as “Red Maple.” This imaging array will reportedly consist of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera, and a specialized multispectral Red Maple primary color sensor to ensure flawless hue reproduction and vibrant photography.

To provide a more comprehensive overview of what awaits consumers in the spring market, it is worth noting the strategic moves of the competition, specifically Oppo, which is also preparing strong contenders. Its upcoming Find X9s Pro is positioned as a powerful yet compact phone equipped with the aforementioned Dimensity 9500 chip. On the other hand, the premium Oppo X9 Ultra model is shaping up to be a true imaging flagship powered by the state-of-the-art Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. With these major releases on the horizon, the stage is set for a top-tier technological clash this April.
