Honor Magic 8 Pro Air Official: 6.1mm Thickness and 5,500mAh Battery

Honor officially launched its latest smartphone today, the Magic 8 Pro Air, a device characterized by its ultra-thin profile measuring just 6.1 millimeters. Despite the reduced dimensions, the device retains flagship-level specifications, positioning itself as a direct competitor to Apple’s iPhone Air in the slim-form-factor segment.
Design and Construction
While the competing iPhone Air is slightly thinner at 5.64mm, Honor has taken a different approach regarding structural materials. The middle frame is constructed from 530MPa aviation-grade aluminum. The manufacturer states that this material offers higher resistance to external pressure compared to the 400MPa titanium alloy used by competitors.
The design features flat front and rear panels with rounded corners. A notable addition to the side of the chassis is a new physical button labeled the “AI Button.” This key allows users to execute context-aware tasks, such as adjusting camera zoom or controlling the photo gallery.
Display and Hardware Specifications
The device fronts a 6.31-inch all-flat LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports 4320Hz PWM dimming and achieves a peak brightness of 6,000 nits. For biometric security, the phone utilizes a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
Internally, the Magic 8 Pro Air is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, running on MagicOS 10, which introduces several new AI-driven features.
A distinguishing feature of the Magic 8 Pro Air is its power system. Despite its slim dimensions, Honor has managed to integrate a 5,500mAh battery. The company claims this capacity supports over 17 hours of video playback. The device also supports 80W wired super-fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
Camera System
The rear of the device features a camera island housing a triple-lens configuration, arranged horizontally:
-
Main Camera: 50MP, 1/1.3-inch sensor with an f/1.6 aperture.
-
Ultra-Wide Camera: 50MP.
-
Telephoto Camera: 64MP (1/2-inch, f/2.6) featuring 3.2x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.
The front-facing camera utilizes a high-resolution 50MP sensor.
The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air will be available in four color options: Orange, Purple, White, and Black. Pricing details are expected to be updated shortly.
