Redmi Note 15 Pro and Pro+ Set for India Launch on January 27 with Massive Batteries

Following the aggressive launch of the standard Redmi Note 15 earlier this month, Xiaomi is preparing to deploy its heavy artillery. According to credible reports from industry insider Yogesh Brar, the Chinese tech giant will officially unveil the Redmi Note 15 Pro and Redmi Note 15 Pro+ in India on January 27th.
The strategic timing appears to be a direct response to a heating market. Xiaomi reports that the vanilla Note 15 has already driven a 165% year-over-year sales increase. Now, the company aims to capitalize on that momentum to secure the upper mid-range segment before competitors—such as the rumored Vivo V70 Elite—can gain a foothold.
Redmi Note 15 Pro+: The Premium Contender
The “Plus” variant represents Xiaomi’s attempt to blur the line between mid-range and flagship devices. It is tipped to be among the first devices globally to integrate the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. This chipset is critical for Xiaomi, as it needs to balance high-performance gaming with the power efficiency required for modern on-device AI tasks.
Rumored Specifications:
-
Display: 6.83-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate.
-
Optics: A triple-camera setup headlined by a 200MP primary sensor, supported by an 8MP ultra-wide and a 32MP front-facing camera.
-
Power: A massive 6,500mAh battery paired with 100W fast charging.
The shift to a 6,500mAh cell suggests that battery endurance will be a primary marketing pillar for smartphones in 2026. While 100W charging is no longer the fastest on the market, it remains a gold standard, capable of refilling such a high-capacity battery in under 45 minutes.
Redmi Note 15 Pro: The Flat-Screen Alternative
For users who prefer utility over curved aesthetics, the standard Redmi Note 15 Pro offers a compelling alternative. It retains the 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display but adopts a flat panel design.
Under the hood, the device swaps the Qualcomm silicon for the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra. Interestingly, leaks suggest the standard Pro model may actually feature a marginally larger battery than its premium sibling, clocking in at 6,580mAh. However, users will likely have to accept slower charging speeds as a trade-off. While it keeps the 200MP main sensor, the selfie camera sees a slight downgrade to 20MP.
Software Support: Setting a New Standard
Perhaps the most significant value proposition for the new series is longevity. Both the Pro and Pro+ are expected to launch with HyperOS 2, based on Android 15.
In a move that challenges the planned obsolescence typical of the budget sector, Xiaomi is reportedly extending its support commitment to 4 years of major OS updates and 6 years of security patches. If confirmed, this would ensure the Redmi Note 15 Pro series remains software-relevant until 2032, a rarity in this price bracket.
With the launch date just over a week away, Xiaomi is expected to begin its official teaser campaign on social media in the coming days.
