Samsung Update Roadmap for December 2025: Is Your Galaxy Phone on the List?

Samsung has officially published its revised software distribution roadmap for December 2025, providing millions of Galaxy users with a clear picture of where their devices stand in the company’s support lifecycle. While the lists for monthly and biannual updates remain largely stable, this month’s refresh notably introduces a new tablet to the ecosystem—the Galaxy Tab A11 Plus.
The roadmap categorizes devices into three frequency tiers: monthly, quarterly, and biannual. Below is a detailed breakdown to help you determine if your smartphone or tablet is still receiving critical security patches.
1. Samsung Update Roadmap : Monthly Security Updates
This category represents the priority lane, reserved for Samsung’s premium flagships and enterprise-critical devices. Users with these models can expect the fastest deployment of protection against the latest vulnerabilities.
-
Foldables (Z Series): The list spans from the Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 all the way to the cutting-edge Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and the Z Flip7 FE. It also includes the luxury W series (W23 through W26) and the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
-
Flagships (S Series): Comprehensive support covers the Galaxy S21 FE 5G, the entire S22, S23, and S24 lineups, and the current flagship S25 series (including the S25 Edge and S25 FE).
-
Enterprise & Premium Mid-Range: The Galaxy A56 5G makes the cut, alongside Enterprise Editions of the A53, A54, A55, XCover6 Pro, XCover7 series, and the Tab Active5 Pro.
2. Samsung Update Roadmap : Quarterly Security Updates
This is the most extensive category, housing the bulk of Samsung’s mid-range portfolio, older flagships, and the majority of its tablet lineup. The Galaxy Tab A11 Plus makes its debut on this list.
-
Legacy Flagships: The original Galaxy S21 series (Base, Plus, and Ultra), as well as the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3.
-
Galaxy A Series: A vast array of devices ranging from entry-level models (A04, A05, A06, A07) to the core mid-range options (A1x through A3x series), including the newer A36 5G.
-
Galaxy M & F Series: An extensive list covering models from the M13/F13 generation up to the latest M56/F56 iterations.
-
Tablets (Tab S & A Series): Includes the Tab S8, S9, S10, and S11 lineups (covering FE and Ultra variants), as well as the Tab A9 series and the newly added Tab A11 models.
3. The Sunset Tier: Biannual Security Updates
Devices in this category are approaching the end of their software support lifecycle, receiving security patches only twice a year.
-
Galaxy A03 and A03 Core.
-
Galaxy Tab A8.
Missing from the List?
If you cannot find your specific model on any of the above lists, it is highly likely that Samsung has officially ended software support for that device. In such cases, upgrading to a newer model is strongly recommended, as running a device without regular security patches leaves your personal data vulnerable to emerging cyber threats.
