Google Services Hit by Outage, Users Report Widespread Gmail Login Problems

Google login outage

Several Google services, including Gmail, experienced a partial Google login outage on Thursday afternoon, with the primary cause appearing to be widespread issues with user logins.

The problems began shortly before 5 PM CEST (11 AM ET), when users worldwide started reporting disruptions. The outage tracking website DownDetector registered a sharp spike in reports for services such as Google, Gmail, Workspace, Drive, Cloud, Classroom, and Meet, all beginning around the same time.

During the incident, Google had not yet officially acknowledged the problem on its Workspace and Cloud status dashboards, though user reports pointed to login failures as the main culprit. While many already logged-in users were able to continue using the services, some noted slower performance. The issue primarily affected new login attempts, which failed and returned a “502” error page. The disruption also impacted third-party websites that use the “Log in with Google” feature.

At the time of publishing, the volume of new reports on DownDetector has significantly declined, suggesting that the issue has been largely resolved and that normal service is being restored.
