Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Launched with a Record-Breaking Battery
Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, its second-generation clamshell foldable, introducing significant upgrades across its display, performance, and battery technology. The device immediately sets itself apart as the first flip-style phone on the market to feature a battery capacity exceeding 5,000mAh, positioning it as a powerful new contender in the foldable space.
Advanced Displays and Redesigned Hinge
The Mix Flip 2 features a dual-display layout with notable improvements to both screens. The external cover screen is a large 4.01-inch AMOLED panel that boasts a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. Xiaomi emphasizes its functionality, with over 500 apps optimized for the outer display, including support for multitasking.
The main internal display is a 6.86-inch 1.5K panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. The device’s durability is enhanced by a next-generation “Dragon Bone” hinge, which improves flatness and is rated to keep the crease depth under 50μm even after 200,000 folds.
Xiaomi Mix Flip 2: Flagship Performance and Industry-First Cooling
Powering the device is Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. To manage thermals, Xiaomi has introduced the industry’s first dual vapor chamber cooling system in a flip phone, ensuring sustained performance during demanding tasks.
The phone runs on Hyper OS 2, based on Android 15, which includes unique software features like an interactive pet wallpaper for the lock screen and integration with Xiaomi EVs. It also offers surprising connectivity with Apple’s ecosystem, including support for shared albums and file transfers.
Leica-Tuned Cameras and Class-Leading Battery
The rear camera system consists of two 50MP Leica-tuned sensors: a main “Light Hunter 800” sensor with OIS and a 115° ultra-wide lens. The system supports 4K/60fps video recording and macro photography. A 32MP selfie camera is located on the front.
Xiaomi breaks new ground with a 5,165mAh silicon-carbon battery, which the company claims lasts 0.45 days longer than an iPhone 16 Pro in typical usage. It supports 67W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
Xiaomi Mix Flip 2: Pricing, Availability, and a Unique Accessory
The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 has launched in China with global availability yet to be announced. Pricing is as follows:
- 12GB + 256GB: 5,999 yuan (~$835)
- 16GB + 512GB: 6,499 yuan (~$905)
- 16GB + 1TB: 7,299 yuan (~$1,015)
Alongside the phone, Xiaomi introduced the Mix Flip 2 Pocket Photo Kit for 699 yuan (~$95). This Type-C accessory allows users to instantly print photos using sublimation technology, complete with a dedicated shutter button and Leica-branded watermarks.
