Qualcomm has announced that the 2025 Snapdragon Summit will take place from September 23 to 26. At this event, the US-based chipmaker is expected to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, its next-generation flagship mobile processor. According to a new post by reputable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, this upcoming SoC will deliver substantial upgrades in both processing and graphics performance.

The leak suggests that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will debut Qualcomm’s second-generation Oryon CPU architecture. Reportedly, the chipset aims to achieve over 4,000 points in Geekbench 6 single-core tests and more than 11,000 in multi-core tests. For comparison, the first-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite scored around 3,100 (single-core) and 9,800 (multi-core), indicating a significant boost in performance.

Additionally, the platform is expected to feature a 16MB GMEM cache and an improved Adreno 840 GPU, optimized for handling demanding graphics and visually intensive applications. These enhancements indicate Qualcomm’s focus on performance efficiency and better thermal management for future flagship devices.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is rumored to feature a 2+6 CPU configuration, with a maximum clock speed reaching up to 5GHz. It is anticipated to be manufactured using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process, with a base frequency of 4.4GHz—slightly above the previous generation’s 4.32GHz.

Based on past trends, Xiaomi is likely to be the first manufacturer to introduce smartphones powered by this new chipset, starting with the Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro. Other early adopters could include the OnePlus 15, iQOO 15 and 15 Pro, Honor Magic 8 series, Realme GT 8 Pro, Nubia Red Magic 11 series, and Redmi K90 series.

Oppo’s Find X9 Ultra and Vivo’s X300 Ultra, both expected next year, are also anticipated to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. However, it remains uncertain whether the Xiaomi 16 Ultra will use Qualcomm’s chip or the company’s own Xring SoC.
