Specs comparison: #Nokia 3, 5, 6 vs. #Samsung Galaxy J3, J5, J7 (2017)
|This week Samsung introduced a refresh to their low-end J Series of devices, introducing the new J3 (2017), J5 (2017) and J7 (2017). These Samsung devices belong to the same category of devices as Nokia 3, 5, and 6, so it’s reasonable to compare HMD’s and Samsung’s low-end line up, because a lot of buyers will be choosing between those devices, especially in Europe.
We did a basic specifications and price comparison of the device, and we can conclude that the J series isn’t as affordable as one would think. They do share some specifications with their HMD counterparts, but for a higher price. The J5 and J7 come with a fingerprint sensor, just like the 5 and 6, with the J7 being waterproof. Keep in mind that we compared only basic specifications and for more precise comparison we would have to dig deeper into specs and also review the devices.

*The announced prices for J3, J5 and J7 are estimates for Europe, so we compared them with the European price (price of Finnish operator Elisa) of Nokia 3, 5, 6.
My opinion is that the Samsung J 2017 devices are a little overpriced and that the 3, 5 and 6 could really compete with them, at least in Europe. It’s interesting to note that the Galaxy J5 was the best selling device in many European countries, including Croatia, for 2016, because of the strong brand presence and aggressive marketing, and an overall good price for a, now premium brand like Samsung.
What do you think about the new J series, and can HMD’s lineup compete with them? 🙂
