New 4G Nokia smartphone code-named Wolverine spotted on Geekbench

In the past two days, two new Nokia phones popped up on two different certification sites. One of them is a smartphone for sure, while the other one is most probably a feature phone. Now, there is also a Nokia smartphone with a pseudonym (code name) “Wolverine”, which showed up on Geekbench on June 18 for the first time.

The device “HMD Global Wolverine” appeared again on Geekbench on July 1 with an improved score. As the Geekbench reveals, the device will come with 2GB of RAM, powered by the MT6762 processor, or better, MediaTek Helio P22, and will run on Android 10.

The MediaTek Helio P22 is manufactured on a 12nm process, backed by the octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU operating up to 2.0GHz and the IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It can support a display with a resolution up to 20:9 ratio HD+ (1600 x 720).

Till now, Nokia Mobile has launched Nokia 3.1 Plus (Global) and Nokia C5 Endi (3GB) based on Helio P22. You can check the comparison of single-core and multi-core scores of “HMD Global Wolverine” and Nokia 3.1 Plus (2GB) below.

If we summarize the new Nokia phones that appeared on the certification sites in the last two days, then this is what we know about the devices as of now:

  • Nokia TA-1277 and Nokia TA-1270 are the two different variants of a new 4G smartphone, which will come with a 4380 mAh battery and will probably fit-in a screen of about 6.5-inches. TA-1277 is the single SIM variant and probably an Americas (continent) specific variant. While TA-1270 is the dual SIM variant and probably a global variant.
  • Nokia TA-1258 is also a 4G Nokia phone and most probably a feature phone. It will come with a 5V 1A rated power adapter (charger).
  • “HMD Global Wolverine” is a 4G Nokia smartphone that will come with 2GB of RAM and will be powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 processor. The device might also have a 20:9 ratio HD+ display.

Also, there is a possibility that the Nokia TA-1277 and Nokia TA-1270 could be the two different variants of the new 4G Nokia smartphone, none other than the “HMD Global Wolverine”. However, we will have to wait a bit more to get a clear picture of the new devices.
