Can’t we see a flagship? https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/247331950/ stipe1906 Interesting. MWC is soon, so we’ll see. Rocky Tirajean S Nokia Mobile twitter account now live! https://twitter.com/nokiamobile Rocky Carl Zeiss 😉 https://twitter.com/nokiamobile/status/839775892629032960 stipe1906 We wrote that they are talking about the 3, 5, and when mentioning Zeiss, but others took it out of proportion http://nokiamob.net/2017/03/06/nokia-we-dont-use-zeiss-but-more-announcement-to-come-in-2017/ I belive ZEISS will be on a Nokia flagship this year, but we have no evidence to prove that stipe1906 We updated the original article http://nokiamob.net/2017/03/09/nokia-we-dont-use-zeiss-but-more-announcement-to-come-in-2017/ Rocky Nokia mobile design video also shown a device which looks like have Nokia logo written on the phone’s side, the phone located in the center https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c4bd8789de049fc962d362eda17063f5f5b84ef625eeb500547605bf9bff4d46.png stipe1906 Wow, that looks like what we seen. Muerte Hi guys. Please read the following, and especially the part where FIH states that their revenues will be up 100% from last year. http://www.hkexnews.hk/listedco/listconews/SEHK/2017/0403/LTN201704031229.pdf What else could cause this kind of expansion factor suddenly, than Nokia-smartphones that they are pushing to global launch? 2.3 billion increase in revenues. ASP is somewhere between $20-$30 supposedly. That means a shitload of Nokia-smartphones, if even half of the increase is caused by Nokia-smartphones. stipe1906 Wow, great finding. Will do an article as soon as we can. ASP 20-30$ is for feature phones, but for smartphones it’s higher. Muerte Yep, probably so. But we must remember that this is the factory ASP, not the ASP that HMD will achieve. And HMD is the licensee that will pay something from each device to Nokia. It is a wild guess, could it be even $10 per phone, considering their close relationship? stipe1906 True. On the factory ASP comes HMD’s margin, duties and taxes. Nokia said HMD will pay the license as a percent of the profits or the ASP. They didn’t give details what percentage and from where (profits per phone, revenue per phone), but they said they will do it that way. So no fixed amount per phone. 🙂 Themightym You need to bear in mind that Foxconn is one of the 8 phone manufacturers in China, and it is the largest one. Foxconn is producing phones for HMD, Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Sharp, Blackberry, HP, numerous other brands that we don’t even know but also it is producing components for computers… So, most of the revenue is not coming from mobile phones, but other stuff stipe1906 That’s not Foxconn, but FIH, a Foxconn-owned, seperate company. They say the spike in revenue is due to a May 18 agreement, and that’s HMD. Muerte Yep. And this was solely about FIH Mobile, subsidiary of Foxconn that manufactures Nokia-phones (also some others, but in their press release they directly referred to the new partnership that means Nokia-phones). Foxconn’s overall revenues are not included in this topic. Themightym Jep, just saw the document 😉 Muerte Nokia MIKA also officially launched: http://www.nokia.com/en_int/news/releases/2017/01/27/nokia-launches-mika-the-first-digital-assistant-customized-for-telecommunications-operators This was the digital assistant that tech world was buzzing about some time ago… stipe1906 Yep, we covered it in January http://nokiamob.net/2017/01/27/nokia-launches-mika-the-first-digital-assistant-customized-for-telecom-operators/ Rocky It’s interesting that Nokia old phone/accessories user guide also migrated to nokia.com/phones (HMD operated). https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b71aaf6acdf49b0e5e3b01cf05274acf05ad2be492a7a30b8768105867cd6808.png https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/94b318ce9abb5bcdf4985d153b27a58843eec864ce33f134bcc392e9ea659412.png https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/7b3d846853930ad34f5ee8351f55894cab546ee246ba58b087890bc5acb1ef3f.png Themightym I’m still waiting for all the Nokia devices to show up there :). Great find Rocky Except Lumia user guide 😉 marty farrell Found this from Jan…can anyone tell me if this is a real Nokia, and if so what model ? stipe1906 It’s just a concept. 🙂 marty farrell I thought that corner was a bit crowded…another nice concept though. Thanks Stipe ! marty farrell 9 in Sept ? http://www.ibtimes.co.in/nokia-7-8-9-series-design-language-specifications-surface-online-719516 Other features of Nokia 9 are scarce right now, but it won’t be long before we get our hands on the spec-sheet, as the device is expected to make its debut at this calendar year’s next big consumer electronics trade show IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) in Germany between September 1-6. stipe1906 How do they know that? They just reported about the Nokia 7, 8 and 9 specifications NPU reported weeks ago, and added September out of nowhere. I left a comment there and will wait for the response before writing. Thanks for the tip 🙂 Edit: I see now that the article is almost a month old. Don’t really know from where did the IFA announcement come from… marty farrell More 9 info…where are the leaks on 7 & 8 ?! https://nokiapoweruser.com/nokia-9-price-launch-timelines-tipped-source/ Themightym Hey, thank you for the tip. We saw before the same news and been talking around with people that are informed better then us, and they told me that this info is speculative and to early to say. http://nokiamob.net/2017/04/01/rumors-nokia-9-coming-with-snapdragon-835-dual-zeiss-camera-iris-scanner-3800mah-battery-ip68/ There is some logic to show the world top model in the time of Berlin IFA congress, but push anything before the 3, 5 and 6 come to the market is to early. If we have some better source we’ll share the news.. 🙂 marty farrell Competition for 7 & 8…specs, size, price…Nokia can offer pure Android though…Hope they get the other parts right…I am a multiple buyer if so… http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/04/19/xiaomi-mi-6-official-5-15-display-3350mah-battery-snapdragon-835-dual-rear-cameras/ marty farrell 6 for sale ?! http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Nokia-6-Unlocked-64GB-RAM-4GB-Octa-Core-Black-Android-Smartphone-Dual-SIM-/142277188787?skimproduct=5d3168a3887a450099e65487478f61c9 Themightym Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend buying that phone for $100 more, if you can just wait a bit more and buy it at much lower price. The only thing I don’t like is waiting a bit more 🙂 marty farrell http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_3_5_6_and_3310_2017_to_only_be_out_in_the_uk_in_june-news-24800.php Am seriously looking at Huawei Honor 8 Pro now. The Nokia 8 is available for pre-order in India for around (converted) £690, a pretty steep price, equal to that of the Samsung Galaxy S8, and very ambitious for a company which has as of yet fallen short of proving its mettle in the modern, cutthroat world of smartphones… http://www.kitguru.net/lifestyle/mobile/paul-taylor/nokia-8-confirmed-available-on-pre-order-if-youre-in-india/ Goofiness rampant if this price is true. A ridge ? A part of the “pillow design” from the blackboard sketch ? Since seeing the video on making the phones, with the older guy walking on and touching the different striations on the cliff edges I keep hoping…that Nokia/HMD goes tactile with the design. stipe1906 Jep https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d59196bac6fc32bbce9ecc03d43fd5b48696aea747a716ef6b13d1cb466d2a53.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c03b36f62b09450e2fd24f421499f32a750558799562d8e16a7a35d556de5700.jpg marty farrell The 3310 was cupped in your hand…brilliant if they homage that Do you think 7 gets this too ? stipe1906 I’m sorry, but I really don’t understand your question. :/ I personally didn’t have the 3310 in my hands, yet. If you ask if the 7 will have a design video, probably it will. marty farrell You could/can cup the 3310 in your hand, it fit naturally in your palm. I was hoping that as the 9 may be hand friendly if the 7 would be too. Flat-backed phones are not really hand friendly. stipe1906 Ahaaaa… Sorry, I understood it the wrong way. Yes, like a pillow seems the 6, and even more the 5. The 3310, because of its size and design, fits nicely in the hand. If you take a look at Nokia’s own (Withings) Products, OZO, and the whole design philosophy, phones will be designed in the same way – simple, with no unnecessary details, and good looking. They will probably fit in the hand nicely. marty farrell First mover http://www.nokia.com/en_int/news/releases/2017/05/24/nokia-begins-first-key-tests-on-45ghz-band-with-docomo-to-develop-5g-ecosystem-in-japan marty farrell Apple…one day after future business arrangement with NOK https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/apple-5g-testing/ stipe1906 Interesting… marty farrell Under the new business agreement, Nokia said it would provide network products and services to Apple while Apple would resume carrying Nokia’s digital health products in its retail and online stores. The firms will also look into further collaboration in digital health, Nokia said. Rauhala said Apple might have been willing to settle with Nokia as the U.S. company’s patent battle with chipmaker Qualcomm Inc has escalated. Inderes analyst Mikael Rautanen said Nokia’s aim to expand its sales of network equipment sales beyond telecom operators to global internet and technology giants may also have played a part in the resolution of the dispute. http://fortune.com/2017/05/23/apple-nokia-settle-patent-dispute-sign-new-deal/ stipe1906 Jep, I am reading it at the moment. Rauhala also said this about royalties: “The previous annual rate was 150 million euros, so I assume this to be more, around 500 million euros.” https://finance.yahoo.com/news/nokia-settles-patent-dispute-apple-070704971.html stipe1906 I put the Apple 5G News together with the royalty assumption http://nokiamob.net/2017/05/24/finnish-analyst-nokia-to-annually-receive-around-e500-million-in-royalties-from-apple/ Thanks for the tip(s). marty farrell At some point Apple can be a service provider.
