HMD really wants to improve #Nokia devices based on our feedback, reveals the Community forum

HMD Global recently redesigned the Nokia Community Forum, adding new features and improving the UI. HMD also added a new site (or subforum) under Discussions/Products/Product feature ideas where users can suggest new ideas for Nokia phones. A new thing in that forum is that HMD added categories like: Planned, In Progress, Implemented and Not Taken.

These category suggest that HMD plans to go through the posts (suggestions) made by members of the forum, and try to implement some good and technically possible ideas. The categories are at the moment empty and HMD moderators don’t give much feedback, but in the future HMD surely plans to listen even more to its customers and put new features into Nokia devices based on our feedback.

The potential problem of this approach (seeing it from the Windows Insiders program), could be that there are a number of ideas that are technically or financially not achievable for HMD Global. HMD Global is a startup with limited finances, and knowing how hard it is to make money on the phone market, HMD is careful in spending every cent of its resources. Leaving your wish or suggestion is a great thing, but a thing that needs to be taken into account is can it be done and can HMD Global do it in its current state. For example, creating a OZO Audio supported audio recorder app, custom gallery, or music player app; landscape mode, dark theme and other similar features could be implemented in new Nokia devices, will for some other HMD doesn’t have the funds to do it.

So if you want to make a suggestion, go to Community Forums and describe your idea in details to HMD. Hopefully, they will award best ideas and active members of the forum regularly, creating an even bigger bond with the community. What do you think? Tell us down below. πŸ™‚

  • Yes, I saw this but as of now there are no ideas planned or implemented. They might start soon.
BTW has anyone installed the Oreo Beta on Nokia 8?? Is there an updated pro camera or something different?? πŸ™‚

    • We returned the Nokia8 we got for test… One day before the beta testing started.

Anyway, hope that the community forum will rise once again.

So we will see your review soon? :))

        • Tomorrow morning at best πŸ™‚

          • Stinger

            That’s fantastic!
I was actually only kidding, ha ha. No need to rush yourselves. Cheers.

HMD is doing the right thing: connecting with their customers. My only worry is that they will try too hard to please everybody. Not all trends are here to stay.

I can’t wait to get a Nokia 8. Only after I’ve played with it a bit I might have something constructive to add. As of now, all I can say is that I wish the 8 had an LED notification, but that’s just nitpicking. I might not even miss it when I finally get to use the device.

Eagerly awaiting Nokiamob’s test results. πŸ™‚

time to suggest that juicy camera button πŸ˜› !!

    also good on hmd

    • Stinger

      Camera button for sure!

      • I don’t know guys, with double touch on the power button you start the camera, and with volume down you can take the shot.

Camera button usually gives blurry shots since you move your phone when pressing the button.

Try using those and then tell me if they are ok.

        • Yes, You are absolutely correct. πŸ™‚
I have experienced this on my 1320. I haven’t used the camera button to click images. I just use it to open the camera.
But the button can help sometimes and it also looks cool. Just look at Stipe’s Lumia 830 πŸ˜€
For eg: It can directly start recording the videos if you press and hold it or something like that.

          • I had it also for quite a good time, and then someone sat on her… I cried (internally). It was the best Lumia ever done, if you take the price of the device and what you got for it

        • Romandi

There are quite a few advantages to using a power button way quicker to launch than the double tap

It’s positioned in the perfect spot to ergonomically use and take pictures as well as launch camera when grabbing phones out of pocket

Also half press to focus is great for me at least

        • Boogieman

Camera button like on the lumia
          1. Press halfway to focus
          2. Press fully to snap photo

          3. Use volume down to toggle photo/video mode (since no optical zoom is available on the Nokia 8)
          4. Use volume up as “customized function button” – one custom function for photo and another for video (assign in settings for camera). Could be flash, frame rate, resolution, dual/single/bw toggle and so on. Just put in every function so each user can choose.

It also is A LOT more convenient to have the camera button top right when shooting landscape photos (which is the most correct format of you want to view it on a pc, monitor, projector due to the aspect ratio)
